With your example of 1M$ salary cap, having just one player like Xiaozhuo gives you only 700k left for 4 starters, 2/3 competitive bench players and 3/4 other bench players.

Please tell me how you do that. With other starters (including power forward and center) at only ±100k salary ?

I'm not saying that against the salary cap, because I've rooted for this idea for a long time, but the 1M$ mark is quite telling considering it's really hard to make weekly benefits with higher total salary.

So my point is, you can't build a strong team around a 300k$ player without having (high) weekly debts... Which is why, I think, the salary formula could be reviewed. Otherwise, such profiles as Xiaozhuo become irrelevant for most of the teams that didn't tank before.

And of course we should add a salary cap. Maybe something like 1,8 times the salary floor, which would give around 1M2 for first divisions.
It gives room for teams that have huge economy to spend it, it also allows teams to recruit to compensate injuries, but most of all it will lead to a fairer competition in B3, BBM and also in each division.

without agreeing or disagreeing with the topic (well, I disagree with a hard cap for a number of reasons I won't expand on in this reply), I do think currently it is feasible to build a strong 1M salary team with a 300k player - with myself being a prime example.

While not tested in B3, I'm currently competitive in both a strong top league as well as BBM tier 1 with ~950k salary, all the while with my top player at 285k - and yes, I ran a deep 9 roster squad, so it's not like the cap is forcing me to a short roster either.

as any other builds, a top heavy builds needs quite a bit of planning to be successful, but it is still feasible at the moment

I think a salary cap fixes it. Say the cap 1 million, no matter how long you tank, you can still only have a 1 million $.

Well it is something that's been suggested regularly for a long time now. Maybe worth consideration after all.

How about training exemption though? Players being trained will increase their salary and if this will lead to going over the proposed salary cap in some cases, how should that be handled?

Maybe a soft cap with x2 for the amount over the limit? This will not stop hardcore tankers though... Just make their runs shorter and tougher. It's still something.

Also I personally believe 1kk is too low for present-day BB. Something closer to 1.2kk maybe.

Well congrats on achieving that ! But yes, I'm not sure it would be enough for B3 last rounds.
Next time I'll say "it's hard" rather than "you can't" :)

it's definitely unlikely to be able to handle RGB's 1.6M roster (until last week, that is), that I recognize, but let's see if I got a chance to win for a B3 birth this season and actually test it to see how competitive it can be next season during the B3 playoffs. lol

Then it just increases the demand on 50-150k salary players and lowers the demand on 200k+ salary players, which aren't already worth a lot.

There has been 2 major changes over the past seasons :
- youth coach and training facilities : we can now train some 160 tsp beasts
- exhaustion implementation : we need now more than 5 competitive players

These changes are good but, in my opinion, it should be followed with an economical adjustment.

Well actually our proposals could help more the lower divisions than the first division.

If the market stays as it is now, or if it gets even worse, then the 50-150k salary players needed in D2-D4 will still cost a lot while the 200k+ salary players needed in D1 will still be really cheap to buy.
So once you're in D1, it costs you quite nothing to renew your team, while the other clubs don't get well paid for their training investment.
And that's even worse without a salary cap, which also impacts the fairness in every competition, including the lower divisions.

About your case, would it be fair that you comeback with a full load of money after a few seasons of "retirement" and then crush all your opponents who struggled all this time to get and stay in D1 ?
Boycott and salary floor are here to limitate the tanking speed but it doesn't prevent it. You can still make a lot of money, even more if you try to win a game from time to time.
