Billy Hoyle's Boys 25-0 Chumunga

Tremmell now has a default lineup and apologized for his mistake (he did so before the game started in fact) which was enough to stop me going postal and cutting his heart out with a rusty spoon. Using my amazing powers i have decided that the votes will be handed out in the following manner.

3 Votes - Mikey Bergman

He's the highest rated player in the ABBL and 2nd highest rated in Australia. That's good enough for the 3 in my book

2 Votes - Odisseas Massios

The son of Greek immigrants and childhood friend of Jack Long was rewarded for the fact that he has now played a franchise record 221 games for BHB's

1 vote - Yishai Keinan

He was tasked with the job of defending the big Turk Selçuk Sultan who was the only player that showed up for the opposition on the night.

MORE VOTES TO FOLLOW TONIGHT

Haggards 121 - 96. JW City Bulls 121 - 96

A strong win for Haggards after a slow start in this one. A strange defensive choice for JW proved costly (remember boys and girls you should never play 2-3 zone) & stamina may also have been an issue in the 2nd half collapse

3 votes Jack Law HAG 29pts 5 ass

Law was money from long range hitting 7-9 threes and was also excellent defensively keeping the opposing PG to a miserable 5-25 shooting.

2 votes Joel Vulcan JW 24pts 3 ass 1reb

A solid effort from the Aussie who did a good job of scoring efficiently (9-15) and drawing a few fouls from the Haggards players.

1 Vote Tomé Salgueiro HAG 16pts 19reb

The big Tome was a force inside as he crashed the boards all game and scored well against a defence designed to stop him. He also did a nice job of limiting JW's best player.

Glenelg Tigers 107 - 92 Melbourne Goldfish

This was a rock solid win for the 2nd placed Tigers who were just too strong inside for the Goldfish. It was another tough game in which to decide who got the three votes as Glenelg's best 3 were very hard to split. Some consideration was given Guanzheng getting a vote but in the end i felt that the margin of victory and the efficiency with which the Tigers best three played was enough to get them the votes. Also the fact that whenever i am in Adelaide i love to have a beer in Glenelg at the Grand was enough to sway me over the fact that i have never had a pet goldfish.

3 Votes Fan Chung Ling GT 27pts 20 reb 4 ass

An impressive state line to go with the top +/- in the game as well as only 3TO's and 0 PF was enough to get him the 3. There was a very narrow margin between the top 3 players and in the end Fan's ability to get to the line and not foul himself got him the votes.

2 Votes Chinh Ton GT 26pts 8ass 6 reb

Very efficient shooting for a guard, decent D, 8 assists and only 2 TO's got the Ton 2 votes.

1 Vote Bernabé da Gudiña GT 30pts 19reb 2 ass

The big Spaniard was to top scorer in the game but his 5TO's, low +/- and inability to get to the line meant that he only snuck in for the one vote. It was fairly close between all the players in the end but this was how i saw it in the end.

Chelsea Seagulls 90 - 74 Northcote Slammers

This game was not as close as it seemed. Chelsea pants the boys from Northcote for 3/4's but some late junk time points from losers made the final margin respectable. Despite my constant chiding Greeno still played 2-3. Despite being best man at his wedding i am considering ditching him as a mate if he keeps doing it........now onto the votes.

3 votes Garth Larbi 14pts 15 rebs

Big Garth was in great nick on the boards, was efficient in racking up his 14 points and did a good job of quelling Demarcus who is probably Norcote's most damaging players.

2 votes Oliver Ðuričko 18 pts 4ass 2 blocks

Was the top scorer in the game, did a great job of drawing fouls and getting to the line and was able to keep Doherty quiet when he was on the court.

1 vote Mu Hongyun 15pts 6ass 5 reb

Tough call for the last vote, i considered Masetti and Sherwin but in the end i went for Mo and his all round game. He did a decent job of doing everything in a reasonable manner against Massetti who is one of the better all round players in the game.

After discussions with Koop we have decided that we will award MVP points in forefits. The forefitting team will get none. The team that didn't forefit will get points on merit according to the score revealed by the Viewer advanced to 48 minutes. In a double foretit there will be no points.

So this affects two games.

Chumunga vs. Billy Hoyles Boys 0 - 25

The actual score was 23-141.

3 Mai Chongzheng Billy Hoyles Boys 42 PTS 8 AST 5 REB

2 Anselmo Centurion Billy Hoyles Boys 26 PTS 30 REB

1 Gianfrancesco Lucia Billy Hoyles Boys 25 PTS 17 REB 7 AST

The other game was from 5/8/11

Slam ! vs. CROCKERS 25 - 0

The actual score was 123 - 31.

3 Alejandro Ascariz Slam ! 24 PTS 26 REB 8 AST 11/13 FGS

2 Ciro Bertocco Slam ! 24 PTS 15 AST 7 REB 4 STE

1 Meelis Klaar Slam ! 30 PTS 7 AST

I will add these to our progressive totals immediately and obviously they are subject to appeal as usual.

While it looked like Kye Duffill was about to establish a massive gap especially with Xie Guanzheng controversially getting no votes last week. However with the Glenelg Tigers players Fan Chung Ling and Barnabé da Gudiña instead getting all the votes they kept pace with Duffman and with the changing of the forefit rule Alejandro Ascariz from Slam ! has come from no-where to maybe Duffill's biggest threat. Finally we have the ever reliable Udi Samdup of the Western Titans still in the vote chance.

Thanks as always to our MVP writers who always do a great job.

Finally Matt1986 can you PLEASE remove your post.

Ladies and gentlemen week 5 is done and dusted and here is the votes that rose out of the appocalyptic conditions

Week 5 Part 1

Slam ! vs. Northcote Slammers 80 - 94 (36141700)

Round 5 kicked off with a very interesting and closely matched game between Slam and Northcote. In what was a 5 point game at 3q time, Northcote ran away in the last to record a 14 point win set up mainly by there depth of players and the fact they probably won the overall battle tactically....Here are the votes.

3. D. Polglase (Northcote Slammers) - Surprisingly Polglase had only polled 1 vote up until this stage of the private league but he looked all the bit of a top 5 MVP contender with him performance in this match. 44 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals saw him chaired off on the day.

2. P. Masetti (Northcote Slammers) - Masetti is another one of the Slammers perennial vote-getters and this time he will be rewarded with 2 hard earned votes. He put up 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists from the valuable SF position in his 41 min of court time....

1. C. Bertocco (Slam) - Masetti's opponent at SF Bertocco was the shining light for Slam on the day. He toiled hard for 21 points on 9-19 shooting whilst pulling in 2 reb and 2 assists.

Chumunga vs. JW City Bulls 88 - 108 (36141699)

The next game of the round brought the tanking and overclassed Chumunga vs the Bulls. In what was probably one of Chumunga's best performances so far this PL edition, they were still outclassed to the tune of 20 points and that was with the Bulls sitting up late and playing the kids and waterboy.

3. J. Vulcan (JW City Bulls) - The Vulcanator was the best player for the Bulls on this occasion hitting shots at will in his 23min of court time before hitting the showers early. He shot 8-11 for his 20 points whilst getting 2 rebounds and a steal. What a game he would have had if he played a full 48min!

2. B. Penik (JW City Bulls) - Penik scrapes into the number 2 spot courtesy of his 11 points and 16 rebounds on the night. What was also impressive was that Penik had chumunga's best player Sultan on him so his stats were truly earned.

1. S. Sultan (Chumunga) - Im not a fan of giving blown out teams votes, especially my own, but i just cant see how sultan cant get the 1 vote for his performance as pretty much a lone star playing against multiple fresh opponents. Sultan had 41 points on 16-31, 19 reb, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks from the PF position.

Melbourne Goldfish vs. Haggards 79 - 97 (36141697)

In what was billed as a close matchup between 2 teams looking for a high finish in the East, the Xie lead goldfish floundered against the tough opposition of the Haggards. Looks as if despite Haggards choosing an Outside isolation offence they dominated this game inside which reflects in the voting. It must be noted that Haggards played a whole 12 players in the game which is a rare feat these days and still took the chocolates.

3. T. Salgueiro (Haggards) - Tome Salgueiro made an impressive display at Centre against the Goldfish. He shot 9-11 for his 22 points, collected 13 boards and sent back 3 shots into the VIP seats.

2. L. Phillips (Haggards) - Phillips had a well rounded performance at SF, hitting 8-12 shots in his 19 points. He also collected 5 reb and dished out 6 dimes to show he knows what to do.

1. P. Mayhew (Haggards) - Mayhew or Mathew as the journalists usually make the mistake on made it a clean sweep for the Haggards in this game. I couldnt look past Mayhews double double which compared better then any of the Goldfish's performances on the day. He had an efficient 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Week 5 Part 2

CROCKERS vs. Billy Hoyles Boys 46 - 93 (36141701)

This matchup brought another of the Guppies woeful east teams against an abbl powerhouse. I guess the best thing about this game to report is at least the Guppies showed up with a team for the match unlike last week!!

3. M. Bergman (Billy Hoyles Boys) - The Burger-man takes max votes from this game in an intriguing battle versus an old MVP favourite McPhail. Bergman showed his superior class on the way to 32 points on 11-17 with 6-8 of these being 3's. Everyone after the game was shouted a free burger in recognition of his performance.

2. A. Centurión (Billy Hoyles Boys) - Centurion used and abused crockers inside players especially Mingfang the big asian. He had 8 points on 50% shooting and 13 rebounds in 23 mins before having an early shower.

1. Y. Keinan (Billy Hoyles Boys) - Lastly Keinan completes the sweep of votes from the game. He had 5 points and 10 rebounds in his 28min and took the minor votes thanks the Billys other stars having bad shooting nights.

Chelsea Seagulls vs. Glenelg Tigers 91 - 71 (36141698)

This was billed as one of the matches of the round and it surely did deliver! Yoda the self proclaimed blob of a man :-p orchestrated a sensation victory over the previously undefeated Glenelg Tigers and in turn handed the Tigers their 1st Fishbowl private league loss of their career. Thsi win also pushed yoda into the top 2 with Glenelg dropping out but their finals aspirations still alive.

3. R. Forbes (Chelsea Seagulls) - Forbes was an absolute machine in this game. Thats right he was rediculous! The 31yo hit a game high 38 points and connected on 8 3 pointers in the win. He also pulled 4 rebounds and 3 assists without a single apple turnover so it must go down as one of the performances of the PL season.

2. F. Chung Ling (Glenelg Tigers) - The Chungstar unusually takes the 2 votes from this game in a 20 points loss. He got this as the game was still up for grabs at 3q time so he was integral in keeping the game close to that stage. He had a team high 28 points on 11-19, whilst getting 10 reb and 3 assists at the PF position and slightly winning that battle.

1. G. Larbi (Chelsea Seagulls) - Larbi had his colors slightly lowered by Chung but was still an integral part in the team eventual win. He had 14 points, 12 reb and 2 blocks.

Western Titans vs. Da Fat Boy Slim 67 - 82 (36141702)

The last match of the round in the east was another evenly matched event between the 3-1 Titans and the 2-2 Fat Boys. In a must win for the Fat Boys they used their slightly superior defense combined with better tactics offensively using their LI offence to win the game by 15.

3. K. Duffill (DFBS) - Duffman oh Duffman is the only man who can! Duffill takes the 3 votes with a dominating 29 points, 17 rebs and 7 of the most vicious blocks seen in living memory.

2. U. Samdup (Western Titans) - Samdup was the shining light for the Titans hitting a team high 22 points, gathering 16 boards and 4 blocks opposed to the games best player Duffill.

1. H. Degao (DFBS) - The point guards dont get enough love sometimes but on this occasion Degao was noticed with an allround performance. He had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. A very tidy game indeed!
