I especially like your second suggestion for the NT/ u21. But one also has to keep in mind, that part of the job/ challenge as NT manager is to find the best lineup despite only having one game a week - and most of the time a game that isn't a scrimmage where one can test out different lineups.

If it was allowed, maybe it should be against bots. But bots that would also be equal to the strength of NT squads. I don't think a PU-game against a bot team would be helpful at all if those bots were like the bots we're playing in some leagues and/ or the national cup...

Du hast nicht genug Geld, um dieses Gebot abzugeben!

1. I don’t mind adding a few more types of bot teams, but it may be necessary to maintain balance.
For example, I personally set up pickup games with people I know to test specific offensive tactics against specific defensive tactics.
If the bot teams are improved too much and can meet all kinds of needs, interactions with real players might decrease.

2. I'm concerned that, this way, the game engine will be thoroughly analyzed very quickly.
The biggest difference between NT/U21 teams and regular teams is that NT/U21 teams can easily have various types of players.
This way, it becomes very easy to use pickup games to analyze the game engine.

2- Allow PU games for NT/u21 teams.

That has already been suggested and the answer of Alonso was clear and fair: PU games are there to help the new users to understand the game, not for the experimented users. I agree with him that it should not be allowed for NT/U21.

Joe

If that's the case the token system doesn't make sense. I'm not sure how many a new user starts with, but probably not enough to test out all the stuff they want to. Meanwhile established teams are able to build up a huge stockpile (for example I have 76). I can then use those to spam 20-30 pick-up games before an important game to test different lineups and tactics.

Great point.

I'm 100% up to u21/NT PU games or at least add 1 more u21/nt scrimmage game a week; maybe on saturday or sunday. It shouldn't be that hard.

I looked it up, and in this thread (322271.29), Alonso said,
Pickup games are for everyone, so everyone can learn and improve, played at any time against anyone (and playing at any time is very important for many, and especially new managers) and this feature is extremely, extremely useful for new managers who just started playing BB and for our user retention, sometimes the next game for starters is 2 days later, one day later, we need to give them an opportunity to play immediately, enjoying BuzzerBeater game immediately, show them what it's about.
And one last note - it helps them gather knowledge about BB faster and that is extremely important for us.

NTs are coaches are barely 1.5% of BB users, usually very knowledgeable, usually very experienced, they have enough from it. This tool does not aim for the very best managers to learn even more. This tool helps closing the knowledge gap in less time.
And in this thread (322271.54), Alonso said,
- Would it be possible to introduce the pickup games for National Teams ? Most scrimmages are played with TS 1, so they're worthless in terms of testing.
As a National Coach myself, i wasn't asked if Marin should implement this system to NTs. It wasn't in the discussion, we preferred to focus our resources (time) to implement it without NTs. Would it be there in the future? I don't know. As a NT coach myself, i see how it'd contribute, but perhaps there would be other, more important features and updates for everyone.

The funniest part is that I actually asked about something similar to the original poster's first suggestion in this thread (322271.51), but I totally don’t remember it!
