Nice work Yoda. As long as the first Matty that emerges is an MVP or better! lol

GM-Bonomi has said he will add some names for us to the list that players are drafted from. Doesn't mean that you will see one but there is a chance. Seriously here are a few I will submit based on some people's names that I know from Buzzerbeater that seem realistic enough.

Generic (some from the top 10 most popular baby names list for Australia in 2011)
John
Michael
Fred
Joe
Bruce
Wayne
Tom
Richard
Jordan
Jack
William
Liam
Oliver
Ethan
Max
Noah
Oscar

Honorific (Maybe some wanky ones here)
Wolf
Zyler
Fanny
Leeroy
Coach
Bobby
Bevers
Bryce
Sid
Koop
Fishy
Cat
Matty
Rob
Brooksy
Johnno
Sundae
Niko
Iwen
Shoei
Yoda
Llama
Zviad (the great one!)

NBL guys (I assume the first and second names will get scrambled)
Andrew Gaze
Shane Heal
Tony Ronaldson
Luc Longley
Ray Borner
Mark Bradtke
Andrew Vlahov
Larry Sengstock
Phil Smyth
Brett Maher
Cecil Exum
Bennie Lewis
Wayne Carroll
Andrew Vlahov
Peter Grace
Bruce Bolden
Mike Kelly
Robert Rose
Sam Mackinnon
Darrly MacDonald
Scott Fisher
Paul Rees
Lanard Copeland
Tim Morrisey
Leon Trimmingham
Dwayne McClain
Derrick Rucker
Simon Dwight
Chris Anstey
Matt Neilsen
Joe Ingles
Patty Mills

I hope no-one objecte to any of these because they will go into the actual database. I obviously am just one player with no special right to create this list so if anyone objects to any names please let me know but surely they are no worse than some of the current crop like Squid and Fatty Dick.

I am just bumping/necroing this thread for two reasons. Firstly I was wondering if anyone has seen a drafted Llama, Koop, Fanny or especially a Yoda? I saw a Niko in the II.1 draft. Secondly I was wondering if we wanted to do this again. I am assuming GM-Koopasaurus can do this if there is interest. Do we want to add Mickyster, Ott, Latino, Kilrtom, Razor or any other honorific names to the list?

Lewisham Wombats drafted Allen Ray (not Ray Allen sadly) and I think it is cool to get those occasional guys with cool names in the league. Better than Aussie basketballers named Akhandala Shrivastava and Ernst-Gerald Hirl.

I would like to see the list of players look a little bit more like a local phone book then it currently does. It is a double bonus when you get a good draftee who also has a real or cool name.

Ott is already in there - Elvin Ott was one of my old trainees who I believe now plays for HA.

I have a Leroy - spelt differently though, so I expect it was already in the database prior to this add

That's a very good idea, going to sticky this thread so we can compile a list of names to be added.

Is it possible to just put in a complete new list of names? Sure if we all put our heads together we could come up with enough names that would be a better list for people who live here. Sure there is wide variety of names but their are more Smith's in Australia then Nguyen. Just as an example.

That last statement is a big call.

I reckon I have met more Nguyen's than Smith's

Fantastic Koop well done.

Making a complete new list is a massive undertaking and the names in the original database were all real names gathered from some real database of Australains, it is just the ratios that are a bit wrong with there being more guys that sound like Akhandala Shrivastava than Joe Smith which isn't true in the population as a whole and in the professional basketball ranks in Australia is even more unbalanced. Sure Australia is a multi-cultural country and there are Eskimos, Mongolians and Pakistanis in Australia but how many of them become professional basketballers compared to people of Croation, British or Aboriginal background?

My (obscure) point is making it realistic is just way too hard, and the best thing I think we can achieve is just to make it a bit more diverse. On the other hand I would have no issue with Koop adding 100 more instances of Smith, Jones and Nguyen.
