We clinched the #1 seed with a 104-84 W over Senegal: (70617)
MVP: Sean Dunker with 19 pts (7-13), 7 boards and 4 dimes.
We will be able to keep our enthusiasm at its maximum during the last 3 games.
The next one will be against Tunisia, which we easily beat in the 1st round.

Sorry for the lack of communication. I was on holiday the last 2 weeks.
The minimum goal which was to reach the final is achieved.
The final will be tomorrow evening against Morocco, the only team that beat us this season.
We are slightly favorites IMO but Morocco will benefit from the HCA.

Unfortunately, we lost the final 95-107: (71031)
Congratulations to the coach of Morocco.
We were behind in scoring throughout the game.
He took advantage of the HCA and made better tactical choices, including a good GDP.
I also made the mistake of choosing a 2-3 zone to ensure the rebound.
It was a bad choice because the opponent managed to score too many 3-pts.
It's the 2nd time in a row that I don't get the gold medal, so I want to apologize.

Hello,

We had the chance to play the competition at home, which made up for the deficit we had against South Africa.
Your season was magnificent since your only defeat against us was undeserved but I had success with the tactics in the final and, I think, this victory in the final is deserved for Morocco.
South Africa remains the strongest nation on the African continent and will be the clear favorites in 2 seasons.
This is the first title in the history of Morocco and we are building on the long term but count on us to try to create a sporting rivalry as was the case when I coached Senegal!

Africa needs to have competitive national teams to hope to compete with the best at the worlds. We are far from it at the moment but I hope it will happen one day, whether it is South Africa, Senegal or Morocco.

See you soon on the grounds!

Hi,
Thank you for the message. You are a very good manager.
I remember that you transformed Senegal into an impregnable fortress for several seasons.
GL next season in the WC !

Happy to announce a W in the WC consolation pool.
As often, the 1st round was painful because the opponents were much stronger.
On Monday, we beat Colombia who are ranked #14: (71847).
Man of the match: Umi Mugabe with 15 points (6-12), 13 boards and 4 dimes.
Any W at the WC is an accomplishment in itself for South Africa.
The last 3 opponents will be Morocco #44, Argentina #12 and Mexico #16.

A 3rd W in the WC against Mexico 82-80: (71857).
Man of the match: Shafilshuna Machemko who scored 18 pts (7-16).
It was a very defensive game with a low score.
The last minutes were surprising. Mexico tied the game 80-80 with 2:38 left.
Fabian Pöll, 35 yo and SA NT best players in recent years, scored the winning basket with 1:27 remaining...
It was the final result. In the last minute, not a single bucket was scored!

Even if it's only in the consolation pool, winning 3 times is a great achievement for an African team.
We finish in 13th place out of 16, ahead of Mexico (#17), Colombia (#12) and Morocco (#44).
This is probably South Africa's best result in a World Cup.

High five to all the managers who trained the players and kept them in good shape! :)
