Week 3Mangoloids vs. Gisborne Gladiators 70 - 56
(36141623)Last time these two sides met it was a last quarter win for the Mangoloids, taking it 83-74. Mangos went in with almost a similar lineup to last seasons matchup. Gladiators however were absent last seasons center Xavier Suelves who has moved on to greener pastures he hopes. This time the Mangos were favourites again, however a close first quarter saw the affair tied at the break. A big 2nd quarter though saw them gain a 10 point lead which they ultimately won the match with. which is no suprise after the Gladiators spearhead so far this season Antonio Terroso was injured in only 5 minutes. Less impressive rankings for the two sides than last time they squared off may suggest the wrong tactics were used.
A brilliant last quarter start for the Gladiators saw them slash their way back to 53-52 with 7 minutes to go. The momentum looked to have the gladiators heading for a memorable victory, but the Mango's regain composure as a good side does and walked away with a 14 point win. Definitely a closer game that the score suggests. could the Gladiators first win be just around the corner???
3 votes - Mangoloids - Sofronio Mabutol - 22 points 25 rebounds 6 blocks
Great night for Mabutol with a 20-20 along with 6 blocks. He kept his opponent to 2-16, albeit a player out of his depth against Mabutol. He shot 7-12 from the field along with 7-9 from the line. don't think he will have many easier nights this season.
2 votes - Gisborne Gladiators - Gniewosz Sznajder - 17 points 6 rebounds 4 assists
'Snotman' was the best of the Gladiators with his team high 17 points. He only shot 6-18 however none of the Gladiators shot very well at all.
1 vote - Mangoloids - Jasper Bains - 14 points 4 assists 3 steals
Jasper didn't have a great night with those stats, however besides Mabutol who dominated the game the rest of the players had only respectable night. So Bains grabs the 1.
