I've got a good coach (10) and I have awful rating for coaching. It happened already twice. After the first time I replaced the coach and with the new one I still face the same problem.

look in the rules, the coach you bought handles training (player pops in skills), the coach rating you are looking at is how your off / def tactics worked against the opposition.
