Hi all,

I have a 19yo SG who i've been training off and on for the past 2 seasons. His outside skills have come a long way (he has high potential, but had low skills when i drafted him), and now I want to train him to ultimately become an SF.

Do you think it will be worth it to train him in big man skills? He will be 20 next season and his current IS/ID/RB skills are pretty low, but he does have high potential and he's 6'11". I'd probably use him primarily as a scrimmage pf/c until his ratings are good enough to play as a sub. Ideally, he'd have 3 pops in each RB and ID by the end of next season.

I normally play outside tactics, so training ID and RB almost exclusively for my big men isn't a problem.

Also, I have a level 5 trainer.

Weekly salary: $ 5 093
DMI: 33900
Age: 19
Height: 6'11" / 211 cm
Potential: MVP
Game Shape: strong

Jump Shot: proficient Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: average Handling: respectable
Driving: strong Passing: awful
Inside Shot: awful Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: mediocre
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: pitiful

Experience: pitiful

Do you think it's a waste of time? I also have some other young bigmen I'm planning on training (and hopefully one draft/transfer trainee), so I figure he could benefit from the additional training.

you maybe could make a decent PF out of it, but for a good sf i miss Outside defence on him and with this hight it is definetely not a skill who made fun to train.

But it is a long way to train it, and i would wait till the draft if you don't get/buy a better trainee then him.

He looks too old for my liking. He can't have much more in salary than he currently has next season. To train him inside it will take a lot of time. Outside defense is really important and also passing and those skills needs to be improved for a SF.

I would rather look for a player after the draft to train as they will probably have better possibilities to be a really good player.

If training your player I would certainly focus on SG as his inside takes way too long time to fix. But then again a SG without passing will hurt you.

thanks for the advice.

if i don't end up getting a better trainee in the draft/transfer, do you think i'd be better off selling him? what do you think I could get for him?

i already have a number of guards that would play before him if i'm training PF/C, so if i don't train him with the bigs, I'd be better off selling him to put the money towards a good, young trainee, right?

his guard skills aren't good enough to continue playing guard (low passing and outside D), and his rebounding and inside D aren't high enough to make him a viable 2-3 SF.
