Maybe on the standings page when a team has clinched a spot they could have a letter, some thing like this maybe

An A for clinched first place
An B for clinched second place or above
A c for a clinched 3rd or above
A d for a clinched spot in the playoffs

A w for a clinched 5th spot or worse
A x for a clinched 6th or worse
A y for a clinched 7th or worse
And a z for clinched 8th.

(With two games to got)

1.a Team A (19-1)
2. bTeam B (16-4)
3. c team C (13-7)
4. team D (10-10)
5. Team E (9-11)
6. Team F (8-12)
7. yTeam G (3-17)
8. zTeam H (0-20)

I just always notice the little letters in the newspaper and thought this might make the game more realistic. There could be a key, or a link to a key below the standings perhaps. This might tell managers when they have clinched their spot, for example, team B should just TIE the last two games for an enthusiasim boost.

If you think I am sacrificing clarity for reality by all means please tell me!

Daniel

p.S. Yes, you slueths you, caught red handed! I was only thinking about it because I just recently clinched my spot. :)

putting letters in from of a team name might be a bit too confusing...

Maybe teams that clinched a play-off spot might be put in blod though...

Or in a different color... That would be nice, I think...

And you can have as many colors as you need... Let's say, instead of letter A, you have blue color, instead of B green, C red and so...

I can understand why non-playoff teams would like to see the playoff teams in blood, but isn't that a little extreme?

hehe,
you caught one of my many typo's there.
I just hope I didn't leave too many in my translations...

For all who might not have seen the light: I ment bold.
(I actually typed it wrong again here, must be some die hard combination of letters I can't get out of my fingers)
