One thing I have not figured out so far is that is inside shot important for guards??

I understand that jump shots are important as they take most of their shots from the perimeter but what if the player attempts 2 point jump shots?? Would that not use inside shot's rating?

How important is it exactly for a guard to have good inside shot ratings?

That would probably use mostly Jump Shot.

I have a couple of guards whit atrocious IS, and they make plenty of lay-ups.

I'd say as long as your guards have plenty of jump shot, jump range and driving skill, their inside shooting ability doesn't matter.

So would you say that a guard with atrocious IS and respectable Driving is better than one with pitiful IS and average Driving?

i dont like ANY atrocious skill, but maybe inside shot (besides blocking) for guards and jumprange for centers are the ones scraping through.

just my 2 cents

That sorta sounds like finishing at the basket is not as important as getting there.

It sound more like, you don't need to be Shaq to make a wide-open layup.

While it is true that you do not to be Shaq in order to get a wide open lay out, having IS in your guards do help them to convert inside shots when facing other players down the basket who are not a Shaq.

in my opinion it depends on what your strategy is, if you play alot of look inside or even princeton to some extent, then its very nice to have guards with decent inside shot because more often than not guards dont have good inside defense. If you are a motion or run & gun type of team then inside shot doesnt account much for guards at all.
