Is the 1-3-1 in this game executed like a normal college or professional team runs a 1-3-1....... or by the positions set up on BB. This may be confusing but a normal 1-3-1 will have the SF at the top, SG-C-PF on the wings and middle (SF and PF are sometimes switched) and the PG in the back under the basket.
SG
SF C PG (Basket here)
PF
Because in the normal case you would need a PG that has strong inside defense, rebounding, and quickness to cover the corners. Or is it run based on the BB positions.
SG
PG SF C (Basket here)
PF
Just wondering so I can adjust my lineup in case I use the 1-3-1. Thanks

I don't know what you understand as a "normal" professional team.....but in many places in the world the one defending under the basket is the C or the PF (and center in the middle)
My belief is that BB uses PG (top) then SG/SF/PF then C under the basket. Correct me if some BB or notable has a different view

If I'd have to guess, I'd say that it's safe to think about zones as tactics that affect defensive ratings, and nothing more.

Im a college coach in America and every team I have ever seen run a 1-3-1 runs it with the PG at the bottom. They do this so they can have a quicker guy cover the baseline from corner to corner. But for the purpose of the game I understand why they do it the other way. Thanks for the help.

I have been operating under this assumption.

If the point gaurd is under the basket, does he need inside defending to make the tactic more effective?

The 1-3-1 is definitely not run with the PG defending the basket. You are likely are terrible coach.

playing a 1-3-1 with a guard under the basket is pretty common because this position needs to be fast to close the lane, i don't think in sense of Buzzerbeater but in RL you wull see this.

Nice cheesy website you found that on. Watch some basketball on TV see a real team run the 1-3-1 before you attack other people. In this game they may not do it but the PG plays the bottom spot in lots of 1-3-1 defenses run but people a lot smarter than you.

In RL, I don't think there is just one flavor of 1-3-1 zones. Some teams like to trap out of this defense while others don't. I think one common case is that the "player under the basket" isn't really an insider defender exclusively -- he's also responsible for sliding out to each of the corners with the rotation of the ball.
One way to beat this defense is to swing the ball around or throw it over the zone from one corner to the other. This defender then will be out of position, leaving the man in the "weak side" corner open from a 3 pointer.
