Let's get a general discussion going here.

Whether people generally like what they see, if the game seems interesting over the long term ( which may be too early to tell ) and where people are getting lost and need some pointers in the right direction.

A general chat on the game itself, the hurdles it presents and a bit more general discourse amongst our small community wouldn't go amiss for the development of the game.

Enter stage right for anyone who has comments, feedback or questions which don't necessarily fall into the suggestions or bugs categories.

I like the general idea with many player skills, and in particular the color code for the skills (Great!). But otoh there are a lot of new skills to learn and it is not that easy to know from the start what skills are good for which player. This is of course both good and bad. It makes the game more complicated, at the same time it would be nice with some kind of pointer the first days to know what too look for.

Does a point guard (whatever THAT is) need jumping? Is outside shooting nessesary to know if you are a center? Where is the strength skill? How important is the players hight?

This is a difficult road to walk, to help the user, but not help him or her too much...

Interesting! (As I'm sure you can tell I've never seen a basketball match)

My point with the message above wasn't really getting specific ansvers to my questions (even though I can see now that I wasn't clear on that part) but more raising questions and thoughts about how much to tell the users regarding players value to the team effort.

What you've written above is of course great help. What I want everyone to think about (testers and BB-*) is if that amount of help is to much, just enough, or to little? A general discussion .

Most of us non americans have the same problem. At least I've now seen 2 NBA games live and have some sort of idea how basketball works and roughly what sort of things each player is supposed to do.

The game is designed to let you play how you want .. My understanding of the game engine is that every tactic should have a good chance of succeeding if you have the right players for what you're trying to do. As Charles pointed out, the aim of the game design is to have, for example, different centers have an equal chance of success. So a good rebounding center would be good for one tactic, a good jump shot centre better for something else. Alternatively good passing players can make a successful offense by making easy chances, or good long range shooters should be equally successful, even though they take more difficult shots.

Here are some links to help you get started:

And one other thing. No players have the best position "Small Forward".

He should be the most versatile player on your team, so look for someone who can do pretty much everything. :-)

I personally found in internal testing that changing the focus of your small forward helped tweak tactics a lot.

as far as i can see there is no way for me to know which attitude my team had in yesterdays match? ( ok i know they took it easy, but can i see this somewhere?)

is there something like a schedule for the week somewhere?
e.g. when does the training take place, when do i get new players from scouts?

edit: new players are drafted in the offseason, reading the rules helped there.

I guess this is more feed back than anything

But while I was watching my game last night. It took for ever for me to switch tabs on Firefox. The game viewer sucked in so much ressources.

Could there be perhaps a less ressource intensive way to watch my game live?
Is there something I wasn't doing right?

Because I have to say that the live game feature in BB is one of it's strength as far as I'm concerned. It's fast paced and really gives you the feel of the basketball game. But the way it slowed everything down for me, made it a bit of a drag.

I mean I do have 2 other crack eh I mean game addictions to feed ;)

The game viewer is pretty resource hungry, due to the amount of data it processes, it pushes flash to the limit of what it's designed to do. The flash player itself is particularly bad with memory management and we're pushing an insane amount of data around.

These are all excuses though - When I have more time to sit down and think about it, there are a few things I can try to make your viewing slightly more pleasant. I hope to get it running a lot better in the future.

You'll just have to bear with me for a while.

ok i have a question as to how important is offensive flow and stamina, i match up to my oppenent in everything but he beat me in offensive flow (strong him and im respectable) and beat me by 20 points. he got a lead on me in the 3 quarter which is where i start to not make much of an offensive action. what is the result of the decline.
