For those of us new to the game who have actually read through the rules, etc.
Can anyone offer any insight on the scouting and the impact it has on the draft, or how that works?

My understanding is that how much money you invest in scouting dictates how much information you get and on how many players you get information on in the draft.

If that is so, won't teams who have been playing for "more weeks" have an advantage? If I invest enough to scout 2 guys each week for the 8 weeks I play before the draft and someone else does the same for 12 weeks, doesn't that give them a distinct advantage in the draft??

Just curious to find out if my old brain is following this correctly.....
Thanks...

I think this enables you to solve all of your doubts :)

Yes, all but one. The question about equity in scouting points for the teams in my league. Following your logic, then, those teams that have been playing longer will have accrued more scouting points, thus seeing more information on a greater number of players....

unless of course all teams in one league are assigned to that league on the same day....(which I think would be too difficult to do)....so, my supposition is likely correct. If a new owner takes over a team in my league tomorrow, I have almost 3 weeks of scouting points accrued already that he would have to "overspend" to "catch up"....

correct?

Yes. Players that have played longer will have an advantage.

Thanks Larry, that was quite forthright. You don't seem bad....maybe you'll have to change your name to GoodLarry or NiceLarry if you keep this up..... :)

People tell me I get a bit verbose. My apologies for my excessive use of the typed word.....

No need to apologize. I just don't have anything to add beyond the concise answer I gave. My fault for being simple ;)

I'm not saying the scouting system favoring older users is a good setup. But I can't think of a fairer system. I'm curious if anyone else has an alternative?

Well,
not that it has much to do with the lack of equity and all that, and I don't know if it's just me, but I really think the info on to-be-drafted players should be updated every week.

André, some of us already asked for that and they didn't wanted to. It was decided that this season scouting will be over 3 weeks before the end of the season and then we will see the draft prospects.

And the scouting we 'll do in those final 3 weeks will count for the next season.

No. You will only see the things described above by Domenico (and also described in the rules page)
