Can someone tell me which one of these is the persons coming off the bench? (Both?). And if both, who will get more minutes?

Im expecting that Backup is the core of the Bench while reserves are the players that get a go with 30+ point leads etc.

Thanks in advance

I'm not entirely sure when reserves come in to play as my backup and reserve player is always the same person, but the backup will get more minutes than the reserve (assuming no injuries/being fouled out). Starter will play 33 odd minutes. And backup will play 15 odd minutes. (This is for me as I don't have a reserve, perhaps reserve might come in for 2 minutes or so but I wouldn't think so as I would think a reserve would only come in if something happened to the backup or starter).

You are right in that Backup is the core of the bench. Not sure if reserves will get played with a 30+ point lead. Its all up to the in game coach and it can be very unpredictable.

Hope that helps!

Indeed it does help, Thank you. By mistake, I had placed my starters in the starting as well as backup positions (I did not read the backup title but rather only read the reserves and assumed that the left column was for starters). I was surprised to see that all my starters played 40+ mins with one or two above 45. I then realised the error.
Btw, reserves indeed get minutes. In a relatively close match I had, one of my reserves got 8 mins.

Thank you for the information.

No worries. The reserves will only sometimes get minutes, they are not gauranteed minutes. For example I played 2 positions with a starter, no backup and i have a reserve. The starters played all 48 minutes and the reserves got no time at all. So it is really up to the in-game coach as to whether the reserves play or not and for how long they play.

Also it might be possible that the reserve played 8 minutes because your starter got fouled out? Or the in-game coach thought the reserve was better than the starter at that time.

Actually, there wasnt much foul trouble. It must be because my backups were also my starters, so the coach turned for a few minutes to the reserves to provide rest.

Yes, as far as I've read, it depends on the stamina of your starters, and on the kind of tactic (slow/fast), you're using...

F.e.: If your starters have low stamina, and you're playing fast tactics (let's say run & gun, and full court press defense), your backups/reserves will get more playing minutes.
