I just learned that the site was offline for svereal hours this morning (CET) and now I wonder how the player auctions were handled.

I sold three players today, two of them for the initial bid and one of them slightly above it. I think the downtime has affected my income in these transactions significantly, is there a possibility to fix this somehow?

I suppose that if the site wasnt offline I would have made 300-500k more, as I have listed those guys around 100k under the max TPE and guards seem to be very expensive these days...

It is really disappointing to get no answer on this topic. This might not be a major throwback, but at least some kind of statement would be adequate.

"Bump".

I sent BB-Mark a mail - no answer. I suppose he gets tons of them everyday so I am not surprised, but there should be at least some GMs to say something on that topic.

I never blamed anybody for that, of course machines might break down - but I think if some players in this game were negatively affected its fair to make up for this. The longer the BBs delay this issue the smaller the chances to find a fair solution imo.

There is no fair solution, any reparations given would be seen by some as unfair, our policy has been.. and will continue to be to delay transfers from happening when we are aware a problem is happening, in order to avoid making a transfer, but not to retroactively alter completed transfer or give out reparations. I know that isn't the answer that you want to hear, but its the policy we think is the least unfair and unambiguous compared to any alternative so we are going to stick to it here as well.

Forrest is right -- unfortunately, there really is no fair retroactive solution to unexpected downtime. Our site is designed to let people bid on players up to three days in advance, and we let people set a starting price they are happy with.

Of course, we will always try to minimize any downtime with the site, but there are often factors beyond our control at play.

In the future, I would advise everyone to list their players for an initial value such that they would not be unhappy if the players sold for that much. That is the surest way of making sure you are covered in the event of a situation like this.

Good advice. Setting a very low initial price is good to get early bids and higher interest in the player, but it is a risk to take. Most of the time your player get sold at a a good price if he is any good by having low initial bid, so even if the risk is relatively small in regards to that, and the chance that the site is down is relatively small, unfortunately it can happen. Better be safe than sorry, and I am sorry for all those affected. You have my sympathies, but after thinking it through I also see that the least unfair way to adjust, is not adjusting at all.

You sure know that - like in any other auction - 99% of the bids are made within the last few minutes of the auction, so it is better to set a low initial price to stimulate the interest in your items or in this case players. Luckily I set a mediocre price so I did not lose too much, but a few hundred k are still a nice amount of money if it comes to buying a player in the price range of around a million.

There are plenty of fair solutions I could think of but all of them bring huge problems with them, so I understand you dont want to do anything about that - especially now a few days after the problem ocurred.
