When fans make a decision to attend (or, in my case, not attend) a game, do we have any clues about the complexity of their decision-making process? I know they know whether my boys won or lost the last game. But is a win a win, a loss a loss, or do they know whether the score was close? whether it was against a strong or weak opponent? Do fans know if the home team takes it easy at home (and gets mad if they lose or are impressed if they win)? I am wondering at this point in the season, do fans know the standings? of whether a game can mean the playoffs or relegation? of home court advantage for postseason? Do fans get excited if the home team makes a good purchase, say a 40,000 a week guard or a very promising 18 year old player? I just wonder if the more experienced managers have any sense of this (minor) matter.
