I'm sure this has been suggested before, and of course I bring this up because I finished 5th, but if we could have some kind of 5th place game I think it would be helpful. Maybe just one friendly game between the two 5th place teams, whoever has the better record is at home and gets 2/3 of the $.

I understand that there are some incentives to finishing 5th, namely no risk of being relegated. But when you realize that the team below you is probably going to get 2 home games and 300-400k more than you, its dissapointing.

Even without money.
Just for training, it would be already so great.

Are BBs aware that end of seasons in divisions, especially last match, may be totally modified by the fact that many teams try to avoid this 5th place ?

the ugliest thing about 5 place, is in my eyes that through the league structure most relegation games are for "fun"(last human league have no demoted teams) and so even the advantage that 5th place is free from relegation isn#t a pro and those 6th and 7th teams get training + income(even more then most of the PO teams)

I luckily never ended 5th... I'm glad I was 6th twice.

sometimes even a fith plce is good - for example in my div i believe a 5th place was more attractive then the 6th - because a Powerhouse of our league give up many games to get a good draft pick and 2 games in the off season.

Both my league 6-th teams lost their first relegation game. One of the teams CT-d to get the 5-th spot. I guess the 5-th place has one clear upside. You can not relegate, thus can not lose out on a big bunch of cash if you are unlucky and relegate.

Ofcourse they do, but it's not exatcly a sure thing that when you end up 6-th you will not relegate. That's my point.

I think the 5th place finishers should get a Tues scrimmage, with no gate receipts

First of all, I just finished in 5th. I am really happy to have survived the season, and that's thanks enough. But...

then along comes this really good idea and gets me thinking, ya' know, here's my team just sitting on their hands when they could be out scrimmaging and getting experience. Since they don't get a stamina-related boost for the extra rest, they may as well be playing. So I really totally like this idea of having that first Tuesday after the season dedicated for 5th place teams scrimmaging each other, with no gate receipt bonus, but training time. After the first week it can be business as usual. We all need to train free throws, sometime, eh?

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!
