That's the question so many of us wonder. When will it be our turn to have that one shining moment? What will it take? How will we do it? So many questions

maybe never... just look at even the real world
without the proper talent and training, it may never happen

there are a lotta teams like yourself as well, not a single home grown player, so where are the new NT players going to come from?

I don't think we'll ever have the membership required to rival the big boys.

The only way is if we get more people in Canada to play this game :(. I know i'm stating the obvious, but it's true :).

I'm trying to make one of my rookies work out haha. Here's his stats so far at 19.

Weekly salary: $ 9 099

DMI: 81400
Age: 19
Height: 6'5" / 196 cm
Potential: perennial allstar
Game Shape: proficient

Jump Shot: respectable ↑ Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: proficient Handling: respectable
Driving: respectable Passing: average
Inside Shot: strong Inside Def.: proficient
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: pitiful

Experience: atrocious

I have only been training him with a lvl 4 trainer. Of course, he started off like this:

Jump Shot: mediocre Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: mediocre Handling: average
Driving: average Passing: average
Inside Shot: resoectable Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: inept? Free Throw: pitiful

So we gotta be able to know how to train our players and how to use our minutes properly for each player on our team. This all depends on your schedule and what kind of matchups you have in that given week. Sometimes you're going to have to just throw away matches to get your trainer that one extra pop. Of course the best trainer to get is a lvl 4 (this is just according to most people that have talked about this subject).

Anyway, so actually, we can be #1, it's just that we all have to know what we're doing (this means everyone in the 4th div too). There's mentors in Canada out there (go to the Mentors Page in this forum, it's stickied for a reason) I personally don't use one but for the 4th div people, they need that help to be as successful as someone on the Naismith.

I agree - we need to be training Canadian players! 2 out of the 3 guys I'm training are Canadian and the only reason I have the other guy is that he was too good to pass up.

Chiragsta, your man Dupre is a beast! Not sure if I agree with you that the best trainer to get is a level 4, however. I've been training two 19 y/o with a Level 6 since close to the beginning of last season and, looking at how many pops Dupre has had, they've both had about 4 more. Whether the extra money is worth it just to get a couple more pops per season is another question - but my boys are closing in! (slowly)...

Sometimes if you do have a team like yours (with three actual U21 contenders), then you should definitely get a lvl 6 trainer. The # of potential guys definitely makes a difference. How many seasons have you been here man?

I don't think my 2 Canadian guys are really U21 contenders. One of them might have an outside shot, but pretty unlikely. I'm taking a bit of a longer term view. I would bet money, however, that my 18 year old from Norway will be on their U21 in the next few seasons. I guess I'm a traitor for developing foreign talent....

A 6'1" center?? I am assuming that is not the long term plan, correct?

Well his 2 other trainees are guards, so I would assume he is training guards, and right now that player just hasn't improved his guard skills much yet. I actually like the idea of getting a short center at 18 because then you don't have to train inside skills which take forever, you can just train guards skills pretty much the whole time, and he will still be fairly well rounded
