Welcome to the III.4 All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. The arena is jammed with All-Star fans, and the Big and Great 8 squads have joined in the first few rows to watch the action.

We've got 5 well-qualified contestants, each with his own style of rim-rocking jams. For the first round each dunker will make 3 attempts, with the top two dunkers advancing to the finals.

The participants are finished warming up, and it looks like the first contestant is about to make his first dunk attempt.

Gerardo Mastrangelo asks Alan Foote for some help with this dunk. Foote sits on a chair in the middle of the lane, and thows a bounce pass from the seat, as Mastrangelo makes a gravity-defying leap over him and the chair, grabs the ball out of mid-air and throws it down.

Now dunking, Sergio Rupérez

After several attempts, John Barr gets the pass off the back of the backboard just right, and Rupérez flies in on the baseline, grabs the rebound, and throws down an amazing jam.

Next up...Dave Roach

Dave Roach is working with Iñaki Intxausti on this attempt. Intxausti bounces it off the floor and Roach grabs the rock in midair then somehow puts it through his legs before jamming it down with authority.

Up for his second dunk now, Gerardo Mastrangelo.

Mastrangelo takes a couple dribbles on the baseline, then rises up, holding the ball above his head....In mid-air, he drops the ball between his legs, then immediately throws it back up to jam home the reverse two-handed dunk.

The judges score..and the crowd doesn't agree: a 37.

After two dunks, Mastrangelo has 87 points.
