Hi folks,

I have been spending 10K on scouting all season long. I recently read a quote somewhere that at this stage of the season you don`t have to spend as much because you will already have enough scouting to suffice for the draft. Is this true and if so is it a good idea to stop spending anything on scouting?

Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Many thanks.

Scipio

It depends on your league position. If you are in the top of the league may be you should stick to 10 k/weekly. If you are in the bottom of the league you should raise to 20 k or more. In both ways you could get a decent player worth training. Everything is based on luck.

Yeah, depends on if you are going to get a high pick or not, or you division. The low divisions have a lot of inactives, so you can even expect to pick up good trainees in the second and possibly 3rd rounds. In higher divisions, you just want to pick up the best player available. I spend 40k a week because Im getting the 4th pick, and not a lot of guys in my league are spending on scouting. My merchandising is top 3 in the league because I have trained my draftees and about 4 of them suit up for every game.

It`s hard to say where I will finish in my division because we all have similar records. The division is tight with one or two wins or losses making a big difference to the league position.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for that.

That was my thinking. I have worked out how much 10K a week will cost me over an entire season and then thought that if I get at least one half decent rookie then selling after a little training will bring me moe income than the expenditure on scouting.

You should be spending 20k per week in Div 5. Even as the best team in the league it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to get preference 1,2, and 3 picks in the draft.

You have the 16th pick, but after looking at your league, in actuality, you are picking about 6th with all the inactives in your league. Which, is why I said D V and even D IV players should always spend on scouting. Especially in those two divisions where a 2nd year player can be one of the best players in the league.
