There have been some good suggestions on this page and I think the game would be more interesting if a few of these were adopted. My question/suggestion is that of a players athleticism. Attributes such as speed, quickness, jumping, dunking all have major impact in real life and it may be a good idea to add it to the game if possible. This could also add a dynamic to fan attendance. Even if you had two players of equal skill, fans would be more willing to pay to see an exciting player such as amare stoudemire, vince carter, or dwayne wade, rondo, etc- make incredible athletic plays and dunks. Obviously this attribute is not trainable but a natural trait that every rookie could carry. What do you guys think?

How would you implement it for existing players? Make them all even? Make it random? The logistics for an idea such as this are infeasible thus making any idea involving new skills or traits nearly impossible.

Potential was introduced and works fine.

Potential doesn't impact the players performance on the court, just how good they can become.

I realise that. I was responding to this:

making any idea involving new skills or traits nearly impossible.

Just saying that potential is a trait and was added.

Adding potential was a completely different ballgame than adding a skill that effects ingame performance.

Unless the trait only applies to new players?

How would that impact older players? You have to consider whether or not it would make new players better or worse than the old crop. I cant see Buzzerbeater adding a new skill to only old players as that would cause unforseen effects to the transfer market.

And in every action the game engine works by comparing certain skills of player A to certain skills of player B.
If player A has an athleticism skill and player B doesn't, there's nothing to compare.

That's mainly why I think it's not gonna happen.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

I said that the new skills would only apply to new players (so those in the next draft for example). It would not apply to players already in the system. It is similar to how potential works, players already in existence got a particular cap (all the same). And new players got different potential - some lower and some higher.

In saying that, I don't want to see another skill added to players. I'm just saying that it is possible to do it in such a way as to not disrupt things too much.
