I might be really off about this, but are there any disadvantages to "collecting money"? I mean, besides for the obvious disadvantages of not buying new players/expanding stadiums, is there anything that actually changes? I could have sworn I heard something like less game attendance, but I could be completely off.

Is there anything stopping somebody from collecting 20 Million on season and just going all out to own the competition (even though it'll probably have to be a low division competition if he's able to save that much money)?

there are a lot of things stopping somebody from collecting 20 million in one season. number 1, unless you are winning games your attendance is going to be crap and you wont make very much money. number 2 you dont make enough from tv contracts and merchandising to reach 20 mill especially if your team is losing.

So why I'm trying to say is you can't just "collect money", but the best way to make money and create a better team is to train players, sell and upgrade your team, get new trainees and repeat.

yeah but to create a better team, you need to pay more salary to the players, so the extra attendance and merchandise you receive from winning will be offset by the extra salary you need to pay.

the best way to save money is winning whilst paying the least salary and expenses.

Heh. I think u jus summarised the aim of the game in one sentence.

on thread topic:

I don't think there's any 'best way' to earn money. Depends on your preference + style I guess. While winning more games does mean more attendance and merchandising revenue, I guess there are other ways to make cash too.

But for me, its about balance I think. You need to ensure that your revenue increases in a higher proportion than your increase in expenses. So ticket pricing + arena size are pretty important to afford better players.

Also I've seen some players who train up trainees for the sole purpose of resale, i.e buy them, train them for a season and resell them for a profit. I've not done this so I can't really comment about it.

You also can take a look at your roster + your opponents. If you current roster is enough to keep you competitive, there's no real point upgrading your players unless you are looking to get promoted. If you have too many players, fire/ sell some. Jus cut the fat, and minimise your expenses. Check the prices of your Staff wages. See if hiring some one new to replace them will save you money. Jus stuff like that. A coupla bucks here and there eventually adds up. : )

For me, next season I'mma be looking to upgrade arena and concentrate on training. Basically upping my income + trainees. Then when I have a decent sized arena, and I feel my trainees are ready... I'll look into getting stronger players to make the team strong enough to get promoted, and at least semi competitive if they do get promoted.

Apologies if some of this is pretty obvious to you. Don't wanna seem like I'm talking down or anything :) Just my two cents from my limited experience with BB so far.

well obviously its not offset because teams still make money doing that including my team, and the point is to try and maximize your profits. The higher the division the more revenue your team will create, but your expenses will be higher. Obviously you want to reach the highest division possible so you try to maximize your profits for each division you are in at the time.

Basically you tried to contradict me, but there was nothing to contradict, and you actually just added to what I said in your last sentence.

I apologize if I offended you, it was not my intention. I just wanted to raise the fact that by improving your team also meant spending more money which could or could not mean you will be saving more money.

you will loose a bit attendance and merchandise, because the survey point " the manager is doing everything for the club"(i play german, this could called a bit different) depends also on the money you have on the bank account.

The supporters don´t want you spend every bit of your money, so I guess 180k is ok. But if you have let´s say 20 Mio. $ and don´t invest anything and your team sucks, then your fans wil get angry on that specific point "The general manager is doing everything he can to try to improve the team".

you don't have to be broke, but if you have lot of money and don't do positiv sinks it stay. if you have nothing and you don't have money it won't fall, maybe even raise.
