It's really annoying, and unnecessary to extend the time by 5 minutes at the end of the auction. Sometimes it takes upwards of 30-45 mins for the auction to end due to this. A two to three minute extension would be fine.

Because of this i bought the player for $100.000 when could have bought for $50.000

That doesn't have a lot of relevance to the bid extension - the bids would get there regardless.

Other than that, 5 minutes can be grating.

Can't we just hire someone to go kick a user's ass when they bid with 10-30 seconds left? You aren't stealing anything buddy, just prolonging the process!!!

I think "5 minutes" is too much. 3 minutes- that is what we need

How about if in the last 30 minutes, automatic bidding is turned on if the bump is greater than 10%.

Before 30 minutes, any bid is treated just like it is now. There would be a visible bid and a hidden bid, but they would be the same amount.

Within the last 30 minutes, you would make a bid and it would be checked against the current visible bid (2% bump and you have enough money).

Then if the new bid would top the hidden bid by 2%, the new bidder will take control of the auction.

If the new bid would top the current bid by 10%, the visible bid will be the current
hidden bid +2%, and the hidden bid will be your new bid. That is you will only
have to show enough to beat the previous top bid. Your willingness to go higher
will not be shown.

If the new bid doesn't top the current bid by 10%, the visible bid and hidden bid
will be the new bid. (The fact that you won't go higher will be hidden). The
deadline will be extended 1 minute.

Else (you will have forced the current top bidder to show some of his hidden bid)
Visible = Min(Hidden, New); if you just barely beat the hidden bid, say by 1%
you won't take control.

So if the current bid is at $50,000, and you are willing to go to $70,000 but you would like the player for less, you simply bid $70,000 within the last 30 minutes. You will be shown as the new top bidder at $51,000.

If someone waits 4:45 minutes and bids $53,000, their bid will be rejected and they
will only have 1 minute to try and make a new bid.

Yesterday i wanted to buy a player, and another team that wanted the same player withdrew. I waited 5 minutes...but when the auction end(30 seconds before) another team decided to offer. After i offer again and wait another 4 minutes a new team appears. This story happened again. Because of this i bought the player for $100.000 when could have bought for $50.000, but the worst of all was being over 30minutos to buy a player...

I realy don't see the problem here, you bid what you want to pay for a player.
You have 2 ways:
1: you bid lower than you intend to pay and hope you get him cheap, this way, if others are watching the same player they might bid as well, and you can bid again, but if you notice you won't get him easy, you can bid your amount, and leave it at that, this should take 15 minutes at MAX
2: you imediatly bid what you intend to pay, and if someone outbids you, I see no reason why you should bid again, since it is over your intended bid...

Is there any other meaningfull way that one can think off, since I can't.
We all know well enough that by bidding on a 250k player that is at 100k, and only raising the amount by 1500 at a time it will take a long time, so just don't do it, unless you don't mind the time. It's in your own hands you know, you can bid high enough to start with, shortening the time a lot

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

I agree with Damena and disagree with JuicePats. The point Damena was bringing is that by extending the auction for too long there is a chance that new bidders will come along, and therefore increasing even more the time spent and the price.

I can atest to this since it has happened to me more than once.

i think all the points raised can be incorporated.. i like jimrtex idea as then it would encourage more genuine bidders and not late steals... you also have to remember that not everyone has amazingly fast internet connections... i take it for granted in japan as im sure a lot of people do... but sometimes pages can take a while to load or refresh and if you get booted out or the bb error message appears it can easily take 2mins to get back onto the bid page for the player you were trying for (i cant imagine people use bookmarks as much as they do in HT as the timestamp doesnt appear.)

I would also like to see anonymous bids ie. just the price (unless you are bidding on your own player then this should be visible)
