I'm a little confused on the box-and-one as well. How does the game engine select the individual who is the best offensive player on the other team? Is the "and-one" the player who matches up with that player? (e.g. still PG vs. PG and SG vs. SG) Do the two players at the top of the box serve as outside defenders while the two players at the bottom serve as the inside defenders?

In general basketball terms, the short answer is yes. Usually the box-and-one is played against an exceptional outside scoring threat and the team's best defender will handle the "and 1" responsibility. If the opposing threat is an interior beast, box and 1 would give way to a more standard 2-3 zone. As for how the game engine will cover it, I don't know. I assume you will decide who the and 1 defender is and maybe -not sure- you will be able to choose who to cover more closely.

I would like to know if playing this defense will accelerate the one vs. one players' fatigue because it sure does in real life.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

it could be on salary. Highest salary from their teams gets matched up with the position they are on ur team. eg their PF is highest salary so your PF will defend him. maybe?

I noticed we can't select them as a tactic on scrimmage which i would like to try out both tactics. Maybe once you chose the box and 1 it comes up like select one player from your team to defend the (PG,SG, SF, PF, C) on their team.

Some of my early and probably inaccuratate predicts would be if the person is not is a zone maybe he should be the best defend because he will be playing on their best offensive player.

Also would be interesting to see how it affects other players in the other team too. eg the 4 remaining players that are not manned up. Also would like to see what the plays in the zone do or what is the appropiate skillset for them. Maybe big men with high OD works best or Guards with high ID, maybe even all those 4 players with both ID and OD? I will ran it on a game i know i will win and tell you guys what the outcome is.

The number of times I've been burned by a single star player with insane salary and a bunch of scrubs as back up (too bad the scrubs have the same salary as my star players T-T )

This sounds like it makes is fun for peeps with more balanced teams or teams with one very strong def player...

I can't wait to test and try this out!!!

yes that'd be very cool... plus if you could pick who to guard (the position)!

Better might be "starter", "backup", "reserve", because one guy will not be in the field all the time. The advantage is that you could pick 3 from different positions.

So once would defend (attack) like that your PG starter, once your SG backup, once your SF starter.

It will probably be by position, which would suck. I can just see the battles now as people try to move their best player to different positions in order to avoid the extra coverage.

Well indeed, but also depends on preference boost. Will be supported prominent attacker able to score over zone man to man with guys around sensational ID? Or is it like that player have to be better than opponents defence to get most from him? That would mean there will be necessary to move best players on different position (while in fact they should just pass to each other to a different corner)

With increased demands on that player also increase the possibility that there is noone in your team who can play in that tactic. But if it would overplay specificly focused (inside/outside) tactic just by getting there your best players, it would not be probably so clever, because it would mean that you need just 1-2 players to beat opponents weakness on his defence.

Therefore if you know that he is going to play 3-2, instead of Look Inside, there would be better to play inside Isolation.

I still cannot set new tactics for my Thursday scrimmage. Please confirm if that will be possible.
