Thought I post my star youth player here for assessment :

Mohd Zulfakri bin Yusuf (15028339)
Weekly salary : $7693
Age : 19
Height : 6' 2"/188cm
Potential : perennial allstar

Jump Shot: average Jump Range: pitiful
Outside Def.: prolific ↑ Handling: sensational
Driving: strong Passing: strong
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: mediocre
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: awful
Stamina: average Free Throw: average

Experience: atrocious

Has been training him on OD and handling last season. Will be switching to JS training from this week onwards. Any comments and suggestion especially from seasoned PG trainers?

definitely stop 1v1. Driving helps you to take better shots, but with JS/JR so bad your shots will always be awful. And, as demonstrated with my pupil Scalambrieri, of with my loved South African Schartner, a PG needs shot. At this moment you have decent defense, acceptable PA, and more than acceptable HN/DR.

So, JR monorole intensive all season long: it would bring his JR to 7 and JS to 10, having so a player that you could better develop. You can take a good player out of him: with his potential and monorole trainings, you may be will not hit the cap, but till all 23 season you can give him full training.

A thumb rule for an U21 PG for an average (not top) PG could be setting the value of PA and understanding how others should be.

Let's look at PA = 8.

JS = PA + 3/4; JR = PA+1; OD = PA +2; HN/DR = PA/PA+1

If PA = 10 (and we should aim at a top performer)

JS = PA + 4/5; JR = PA + 2; OD = PA + 3; HN/DR about PA

These guy is perennial all star, so you can push him at about 100k$, then he will stop (depending on potential decimals). It is not unlikely he could stop just above 80K$ if low decimals.

If you were going to train him for the U21, then yes you should stop OD, train him in JS until proficient then train his Passing to balance it with your handling.. Ahmoi prefers players with high shooting, but don't let your PG's main skills drop or your player will be scoring as much as my veterans but don't qualify for the NT. I used to focus on JS and Handling, but finally I decided to balance out my player's OD, Handling, Passing and Driving. They're pretty high compared to JS. I'm not sure about TooCool's Samsul, but 2 of the top 3 PGs in Malaysia (earns around 93k and 159k per week) focuses on handling, OD and passing instead of JS.

You can't say that a guard has high shooting skills if his JR is pitiful ;D

agree. In Guards shooting must have JR close to JS (very close as in French standards, or a bit more stretched in Italian, but never farther than 30%)
