I was reading another thread and someone made this post:

"The other point is that, before, there was a decision borderline GMs had to make - go for 5th and sacrifice the training, or drop yourself to 6th or 7th in order to get full training. It is a calculated risk to settle for 6th instead of going for 5th, as you are facing a significant risk of demoting - it's no guarantee you'll win 2 out of 3, and as nick said, you likely aren't going to be optimizing training anyway, as you need to win those games. "

Can someone please explain why going for a better record you are sacrificing training?

By placing 6th or 7th, you play qualification matches. In theory, more matches = more minutes for more players = more training.

The argument Steve is making, however, is that teams playing qualification matches can't be flexible with their lineups because it's do or die, so training can't really be optimized.

Gotcha.

If you make the playoffs and you lose your first playoff match, is there a losers bracket?

OK, then are you automatically put in friendly game for the remaining weeks, like those teams that didn't make the playoffs? If you aren't, then those teams that lose the 1st round playoff match sit for 2 weeks?

They will have a scrimmage on the next Saturday just like non-playoff teams.
