For the first time in Gachai's 12 season history we will be fielding the Big 8 starting five.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

The All-Star game (pointless game engine that doesn't use defense and tells us nothing) and selection process is a joke. I have two starters and one reserve. The reserve is at SF. He played one game -- 22 minutes -- for me. Yet somehow this is enough to make the All-Star team in a USA Division II league. Embarrassing. How is anyone supposed to take this seriously?

None of my guys made the team, but ironically, the #4 and #6 teams in my conference have 2 players each in the starting lineup (I'm currently #3).

None of my guys made the team, either, and I'm #1 in my conference, and have beaten the #1 and 2 teams in the other conference. Whatever formula the All-Star system uses, I suspect it (a) undervalues defense, and (b) values minutes in a way that is inconsistent with keeping all your players in good game shape. Only 2 of my players were even fourth in votes cast, and one of them was a backup!

Well, what I've found from my personal experience is that my team wins as a team. Because I'm mindful of game shape, I limit my players' minutes and even sit some of the starters sometimes to conserve them. The end result is that my guys usually don't have breakout individual performances, but rather they help the team overall, and I win games. Just this past Saturday, I knocked off the previously unbeaten #1 team in the other conference, after spotting them a 20 point half time lead. As long as my guys keep working together to win games, I don't really mind getting snubbed in the All Star game.
