I think the speed of an Arena Expansion could do with a little less randomness. I like randomness a lot. But I feel the randomness in Arena Expansion is a little too much.

This is, off course, fueled by quite a few Arena Expension Completions just 1 day after a home game is played. Currently I'm experiencing another 5 day period of no progress at all in my arena expansion. BB is a simulation, but it seems the workcrews in my hometown (homeplanet?) are very very lazy. I have done about 15 expansions and 1 has been completed before the estimated time, 2 on time and the other 12 later. The bias here (caused by randomness?) is not good, in my opinion.

So my suggestion: Completion time can never take longer or be quickerthen the estimated # of days +/- 40%

I think this is a great feature, that adds a lot to the excitement in the game.

You mean that you have had expansions taking 40% longer than the estimated time ? That's bad !
Do you always build different seat types at once ? Since I have started building one seat type at a time, works at my arena are almost always completed ahead of time. Give it a try :)

OK, I will try that.

But in my personal opinion, seating type should not have an influence. If it does, I guess that eacht type has its own random generator for progress. So even if you progress in Type A, if Type B does not experience progress, the whole contruction is delayed....

And yes, I've had a couple of expansions take more then 40% longen then expected. And yes, I usually build sever
al types of seating at the same time.

Update on my first try to expand just one type of seating:

I started with expanding just 2 Luxury Boxes. I know these are a bit complicated to build (in real life) compared to just general seating, but the estimate was 6 days on 26/12/2010.

So today I'm still stuck at "The expansion will be complete in approximately 3 days"

Oops, stupid me: The Builders are also enjoying the merry season!

Happy 2011 everyone and may your matches have no injuries at all (except when an important match against me is coming up off course)

There must be something we don't understand.

I have built 143 lower tier seats, contracted on the 2nd, completed today the 7th. The estimate was 6 days (easy to simulate).
For the record and to make sure I am not mistaken :

Contraction : http://img521.imageshack.us/i/arena1k.jpg/
Completion : http://img263.imageshack.us/i/arenan.jpg/

It happens frequently that works at my arena are completed in advance and they were delayed by one day only a couple of times I think. So whether it's completely down to luck and I have been fortunate until now (it's possible, I have only had 14 expansions in total, a sample that is certainly much smaller than yours) or I do something by complete chance and it works well.

I am clueless how expansions work but I don't intend to break this golden cycle, I won't change anything. I usually build for 100k of one type of seats.

Happy New Year :)

On Jan 5th I expanded 10 courtside seats. Estimated 6 days. Today, I'm on 3 days until completen. Again, already 2 days of delays.

It's like the movie "Unbreakable": Some people weill be unbreakable, while others break everything. I seem to be in the latter category concerning Arena Expansions.
