With the age change happening, and a new draft on our doorstep, it seems like a good time to look back and see how the previous draft class has been developing. Much like last season, I've put together some rough rankings for the best Canadian 19 year old prospects. These rankings are based on a player's development from a U21 point of view, so potential is only accounted for in a minor way. To make the NT in the distant future, it looks like MVP+ potential will likely be needed everywhere eventually (except maybe SF), which isn't reflected at all in the following lists.

Guard Rankings (PG, SG, Guard-type SFs)

1. Delain Sanderson; (16416618)
2. Raymond Janelle; (16415633)
3. Herschel Clay; (16415804)
4. Jim Tharp; (16415817)
5. Kevin O'Dwyer; (16414736)
6. Joe-Max Phillips; (16415669)
7. Anton Rickard; (16416588)
8. Hugo Moore; (16415629)
9. Itzik Refuah; (16415642)
10. Nicolas Pariseau; (16416134)
11. Tommy Saint-Amand; (16416304)
12. Loek van Geel; (16414911)
13. Brian Reedy; (16415695)
14. Joel Jeanson; (16414996)
15. Forest Doherty; (16415192)
16. Tom Dawson; (16416263)

C/PF Rankings
1. David Castro; (16416234)
2. Théodore Breton; (16415254)
3. Isidoro Estevão; (16415094)
4. Rob Hart; (16415023)
5. Mike Piotrowski; (16415202)
6. Stu Jenkins; (16414753)
7. Daniel Labbé; (16414868)
8. Valentin Gaudreault; (16415726)
9. Calvin Brunelle; (16416110)
10. Atillio Corvaja; (17667071)

Special Denny Hall category (Not on pace for U21 right now, due to being created late last season, but still uber-prospect with a possible NT future)

1. Denny Hall (18665337)

The actual numeric rankings don't mean much at this point, with so much development time left. Still, those are some of the main names to watch from last season's draft, and hopefully a solid U21 core emerges from this group.

I had missed Joe-Max Phillips during my scouting update, and he hadn't been on my list at all. He's also an excellent U21 prospect, and I"ve slotted him into the rankings just now. It looks like you have two very good prospects to work with there. :)

In my 100% unofficial capacity I would say that Mr. Armand would rank higher if you trained more of everything.

His passing definitely makes him 100% unusable at the u21 level but I would concentrate on getting his JR and OD up right now and then move on the other skills (assuming you want to make him a SG). Your plans should depend on what you want to do with him. What position do you want him to play? What sort of player at that position?

To be honest, he's too young to even be concerned about the rough under 21 rankings right now

Saint-Amand definitely could use more passing, and more passing would help his U21 chances in the future. I think it makes sense to train it for awhile.

Ramsay is 20 years old, so he would belong in the 20 year old thread. He's close to the top 10 for his age group (at his position), and arguably could be in it, but I have him in the invisible honourable mentions category (he's on the scouting list I have for 20 year olds, but not mentioned in the rough rankings).
