If my best defender is a PG and I have him defend the opponents SF. Does he take a penalty to his stats.

Does Kobe guarding LeBron take penalty to his stats, when he is being guarded by Wade on offense?

No his stats won't be affected and unless your opponent sets SF on PG he'll be guarded by your opponents PG, and not SF.

He won't. Just as long as his defensive skills matchup well with the player he's defending, you'll be alright.

In your situation, if your PG has good enough Inside Defense, he could perfectly well guard your opponents SF (depending on his offensive skills).

I think the question is more around cross matches. In real basketball, when you are cross matched, that can sometimes lead to defensive breakdowns. Does being "cross matched" in BB also have that kind of effect?

I am looking at cross matches. ALso, is there a component of help team defense in the game or is it strictly amigo y amigo. If so does this get decreased by playing out of position.
