I'm not sure if this is a bug or my misunderstanding, so I'll post it here first.
I've tried Box and 1 (outside focus) yesterday in PL, but I wasn't sure if this was really a problem, as the opponent had pretty balanced and better team and I wasn't sure what exactly happened.
But today, I had a perfect candidate for this defense. His PG is clearly his best player on the court with averaging 40+ points per game in last few games. Other players are by far weaker, so I've decided to give it another shot.
I've set up a lineup with two great outside defenders on SG and sub SG, all other starters with average OD skill, and SG-C backups with low OD. I had some time on my hand to scan through Play-by-play, and here are numbers of match-ups defending his PG, based on comment on close guarding, backing off and fouls (starter + substitute):
PG: 3
SG: 2 + 2
SF: 3 + 0
PF: 2 + 0
C: 9 + 5
So, my clearly best outside defenders on SG positions were defending him 4 times combined, and centers with average and lousy OD 14 times (53%). This doesn't look right at all. Of course, it would be better if I just switched PG and SG defending positions, but I wanted to try this one. :)
BTW, his PG *did* perform worse than in previous games (26p, low FG%), but note that his game shape is 5 this week, so it might be a reason. What would happen if he had a "normal" game shape, god knows. :)
