Recently I've had a wierd rash of injuries to key players. Last season I rarely had any injuries. Is this random/bad luck. Or is it some thing I'm doing?

Check the Suggestions they are important

Have you changed doctors at all during this period?

injuries are random, but a high level doctor really does help.

I had three players taken out for injuries tonight, one of which stuck. Not one of the records I was hoping for, but yes a random factor is involved. See the FAQs on injuries: (144856.43)

They are right, it's random. One of my friends who plays had 11 injuries in one season. He emailed the GM for England & was told it wasn't a bug, he was just unlucky.
He's a paid supporter & plays this for fun & competition. Given these facts & how much of a balancing act this game is, it seems a little counter productive to have so many injuries loaded up like that.

I'm guessing you weren't around when injuries lasted 4-8 weeks, as opposed to 3 weeks at the maximum now.

You're much less likely to suffer injuries if you improve your doctor, and the signing bonus for doctors is practically nothing.

No, I wasn't around, been playing just over a year. I think he would have left the game if that was still the case. lol
I picked up a 6 Doctor with "Taping" as a speciality, for about $20k or so. I get about 1 injury per season on average.

(22795)<--this guy had something like six players injured during at one point in a single season (most for 3+ weeks), and led the push to change from the old staff system to what we have today. He did learn a lot about stamina and FT training during that time though. (There was also a nasty bug where if you hired a new doctor, you'd get an injury in your next game.)

I picked up a 6 Doctor with "Taping" as a speciality, for about $20k or so. I get about 1 injury per season on average.

I got mine for $1k. I change him out every so often when I can save 10-15k per week by doing so, and I haven't had more than a game injury in over two seasons.

Is this really the case? Or do doctors just decrease the time of injuries?

The game manual suggests they decrease the time period, but so many people seem to think they will prevent injuries. Not sure if I've missed something here?

If a better doctor can decrease the length of the injury from 1 week to a game, I'd say that's worth it.

My doctor is "advanced" with no specialty. Should I get a new one with taping?

That's entirely up to you, as I don't know what your weekly finances are or whether you'd rather spend more for a doctor or for a player, or invest that same money in scouting, etc.

For me, in my financial situation, I pay my doctor every week & don't miss the cash. I pay my trainer twice as much. For you, the story might just be different.
