I want to train some of my guards at inside shotting cuz they are great drives but cant lay the stupid ball in lol. Do i really have to play them at like SF to get them to be able to train on Inside shot?

You can play them at SF if you do 3 position training but it is ineffective.

Play them at C for 1 position training or PF or C if you want 2 position training.

The best way to do this is to let them play in your scrimmage, so your line-up in your League Games won't be screwed up.

but they will still miss plenty layups, i think your initial plan is better to train it indirect with skills who are more useful for your guards, like 1 on 1 or JS for Forwards. Maybe even JS for Wings train it, and make training easy because they still play at a pretty natural position(but better look in the training speed thread if it really trains it i am not sure^^).

Well, for the team I run, inside shot is somewhat important on my guards. Sometimes they get offensive rebounds leading to easy put backs over opposing guards who aren't meant to defend inside. In addition, when I run look inside, my guards often end up getting passes for dunks and close range shots from even my bigs. so training inside is useful, but from what I heard, training js does improve is too.

for the put backs i agree with you, but for the layups and near distance shots my is 1 and 7 guards didn't differ that much, for me the impact of the bigs in your lineup was bigger(at least they had struggle when i played rng with an IS 8 Center).

I think with improving JS you will help your defence lot more, if they had Is it is fine also but i wouldn't train it direct, especially because are also mostly small and the training have not only little impact on the game it also takes very long. If i train guards in big men skills i usually go for Reb and sometimes ID(to make them possible to play SF). And yes maybe you could discuss if the Reb is worth the extra salary, but this is an another topic.
