Hello,

Am new to the game and still trying to figure things out.. So much information to take in its unreal!!

Anyway, to the point... I was wondering if there was some formula to work out how many minutes each player will get per game based on how many players you select in starters, backups and reserves...

I have searched the forums and the help guides and can't find what im looking for, so any help would be amazing!!

Thanks in advance, and I'm pretty sure I'll be back for more help at some point soon!

As a general rule of thumb:

Starters get: 33min
Back-ups: 13min
Reserves: 2min

However, you need to choose the "Strictly follow depth chart" option in the tactics area before you set your lineup. If you don't the coach will more or less decide how many minutes each player gets, and the coach doesn't care about minute allocation, the coach cares about winning.

The minutes will vary sometimes, so keep in mind this is rough guide. Also, what I'm doing at the moment is only setting my starter and backup roles, so the starter usually gets around 35min and the back up 13.

But it doesn't always work out the way you want it to. For example this week, I'm training the Centre position in one position training, so I set my tactics as I stated above and my starting C got 35min. in the first game http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/29708190/boxscore.aspx

In the second he my starting C got 39min. and the backup only got 9min. This was partially due to the game being so close (only a two point difference) http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/29708198/boxscore.aspx

So as you can see minute distribution is tricky but that's what adds to the games fun. I hope this helps good luck and enjoy, this is truly a fun game to play and try to master.

Told you i'd be back quickly! One more thing in regards to minutes.. Sorry if I'm not making any sense with this.

Does that rule only come into effect if you select all 3 slots?

Example... If I only select a starter and a backup do they each get 24 mins? Or does the backup also act as the reserve player and splits 33/15?

Or if I select player x as starter and set player y as backup and reserve does he play 24 or 15 minutes? (ish)

Starters get: 33min
Back-ups: 13min
Reserves: 2min

This is a bit more accurate:
starters tend to be closer to 36 minutes
backups tend to be closer to 12 minutes
Reserves get 0 minutes

Reserves generally never see any playing time unless it is a blowout or your team is in foul trouble or you have an injury. Minute distribution also depends how on how good your starters are compared to backups. Coach will leave a good player on the court if he believes that the player will be more effective than the backup so you will get games where your starter will try go 48 minutes if he is a lot better then the backup

Assuming both players are similar in skill, the backup will get around 15 minutes or so depending on a range of other factors.

Thanks mate.. Very helpful!!

One last thing.. Is it possible then to split minutes 24/24 for one position? Or best to rotate the 2 players over 2 (maybe 3) games??

Cheers,

Getting 24/24 split is quite difficult. Only way I have got similar is if I have a big blowout win or if I have a really bad starter and a really good backup playing coach pick from depth chart.

Your easiest bet is to do some sort of rotation to achieve the correct minutes or alternatively play 48 minutes for the 1 game and used the other player to play 48 minutes in the other game

Thats the idea I had in mind if the split was difficult.

Thanks again mate, appreciate the help!
