I currently am the top of my conference, and will likely stay there. Though I probably won't win the playoffs, I will likely get a low draft pick. My question is: I am currently spending 10k a week on scouting points. Should I spend less?
Also what should my scouting/drafting strategy be?

Oops, did I shoot early again?

10k has the best return on investment, so as long as you can afford it, it's good.

Since you won't get 5-ball 18yos, you have two possible draft strategies: going for 19-yos or going for 4-balls.

If you go for 19-yos, take the Scouting combine and scout some of the 19yos you are interested in.

If you go for 4-balls, take the group demonstration and interview the 4-ball guys and hope some of them have good potential.

You'll either get an a bit older trainee, or one with a little worse starting skills, but the potential might still be there.

Thanks for the advice, both of you.

I could save them until next season, however it is likely I will still be in this league, on top of my conference, leaving me with no chance at a good draft pick.

You could keep saving till u do get a higher draft pick even if u have to wait a couple of seasons.

Why wont he get 5-ball 18yos?
Am I missing something here? I saw plenty of 5-ball 18-year olds in the draft last year, im pretty sure I even drafted one?
What am I missing in my knowledge here? Im not criticising, im actually really curious!

generally speaking, if you are first in your league and draft late, the teams drafting in the first rounds will pick the 5-ball 18yos if they invested in the scouting process. Until you draft yourself, 14 or 15 picks are already gone. And there's perhaps 4 to 7 5-all 18yos, so the chances of them being picked are pretty low.
