I have a Big Rich Morales with the stats below. I am wondering how I should train him in order to be able to keep him, but also be able to contribute next year and also maybe make the U21 team. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Age: 18
Height: 7'0" / 213 cm
Potential: superstar

Jump Shot: atrocious Jump Range: pitiful
Outside Def.: pitiful Handling: respectable
Driving: respectable Passing: atrocious
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: average ↑
Rebounding: strong Shot Blocking: respectable
Stamina: pitiful Free Throw: respectable

Experience: pitiful

with his size, JS and OD, there's little choice but making him a C. Be aware that keeping him and making the U21 might be mutually exclusive.

That said, some serious Passing and JS training now (up to about inept-mediocre each) will cost you next to nothing more next season while improving him quite a bit. Then next season, start pounding his inside skills as long as you can afford to do so. You will want him to have prominent IS, ID and Rebounding when he turns 20, and about tremendous in all these skills when he turns 21. Hopefully, you have promoted once or twice until then, because he'll cost you about 50k by then. You could then go on training him inside, as his potential allows him to reach a salary well above 100k, or pump his JS and Driving a little further so he could also play PF on offense (though he'll be restricted to playing C defensively)

for me i'll definitely not keep a young big trainee if he's poor in 2 of JS, OD and PA no matter how gd his main skills and potential are.

besides, like wt laker says, keep him or make him an U21 is very probably incompatible. if u decide to keep him, then train as laker advises but a player with tremendous in IS, ID and RB and not decent secondaries will hardly have a chance to make USA U21. then let say u decide to make him U21, maybe he can. but u cant afford him and need to sell him. but at the same time u find that because of his many atrocious and pitiful, he is not attractive to buyers and will sell for a price not much higher than u sell now

So if I were to sell him what price would I put on him right now?

setting price is another intriguing issue. on one hand, u want to ensure that ur player sell for a reasonable and expected price. on the other hand, setting directly at the potential final selling price may discourage a bunch of interested but not very interested buyers. people will tend to wait to see if anyone bids, hoping that if no one bids u'll lower the starting price. there is also one thing about 18yo rookie. as the season proceeds their value decreases because most of them haven't been trained till now and most teams already settle on their training plan ande selected their trainees and some are looking forward to next draft. So my opinion is u cant afford selling him any later. and if no one bids on him and u need to put him on TL again, this will hurt his value even more. i'd suggest u take a look at the TL and find out the final selling price of similar player to Rich (what i mean by similar is excellent main skills, extremely poor secondary skills and superstar potential. potential does make a difference) and then set the price at 10-20% below that.
