Hey, i have a Cup game tomorrow that should be a blowout in my favour. Usually in this case i have about a 25/23 minute split between my starter and backup. Ideally i want my players to get more minutes then this. If i have a player as starter and backup and a different player as reserve will the starter play for 3 quarters (36 minutes) and then be replaced by the reserve for the last quarter? That would be perfect.

In blowouts, I find that if you put in different players as starter/backup the minute will work out almost evenly. I had 2 players get exactly 24 minutes each in this scenerio yesterday and two other positions produced 25-23 and 28-20 splits.

To get the minute distribution you want above, you're better off putting the same player as the starter/backup and put the 2nd guy as the reserve (3rd spot). That usually gives me about 36-12 or 38-10 split in a blowout.

I guess what i'm really asking is does the reserve only come on either 4th quarter in a blowout or if something happens to the starter (who is also the backup)?

Sorry, I misread your question.

Yes, the reserve will generally sit until the final 10-12 minutes of the game.

You need to do what you described here. But the key is setting the coach setting to strictly follow depth chart.

This would mean the starter will stay on the court a lot longer until the 4th when its a blowout when the reserve players will come on
