Would you say a driving Small Forward is a viable tactic in Buzzerbeater? In the NBA, scorers like Paul Pierce, Lebron James, and Manu Ginobli are very good from the SF position at getting to the rim instead of relying on a jump shot all of the time. I notice that the salary calculator doesn't even consider driving for SFs. However, I realize that means jack squat when it comes to game engine tactics.

I was considering buying a Driving oriented SF to take some pressure off of a pure shooter at the SG position (ie he will be able to make his own shot when my passing isn't flowing so well at the end of a possession). Is this a viable tactic?

It depends a lot on the offense. If you are playing an outside offense then he is going to take a lot of jump shots and won't be given the chance to drive much. But if you are playing an offense like look inside, since it is a fast paced inside based offense, it gives you (especially your small forward) more opportunities to drive. Of course driving means absolutely nothing without inside shot so he doesn't drive then miss his lay up, so that would have to be high as well. I consider driving a good skill for small forwards

He needs very high inside shot for that to work. 10 or 11 would be good.
