I already suggested this before but i couldn't find the topic so...excuse if anyone feels that i'm being too repetitive...:).
Anyway, i would want to suggest a more interactive process on selecting players to the ASG. Right now, the process does not have nothing to do with the users and, even thou the best players end up being chosen (al least, most of the time...even in the real NBA ASG are always dubious selections...), i think it would be good for the BB game to gey users involved in the all-star voting...So, here it goes how:

1- Each user could vote for both all-star squads.
2 - Each user could vote for the best 3 players per position (with position being defined by BB and not by where the player actually played the majority of his minutes...). For example, the best PG gets 5 points, the 2nd gets 3 points and the 3rd gets 1 point. The process is repeated for all the positions in both squads, regardless of the conference in which the user is competing..Of course, you wouldn't be able to vote for your own players...
3 - With the ASG being Wednesday, this voting process could take place between Friday and Monday (i know this is a minor question but, anyway, important...)
4 - When the voting is closed, all points are counted and the player with more points in each position would be the starter with the sub being the second.
5 - This would be at full display on leagues with no bots. Anyway, in miscellaneous leagues (with users and bots), it could work as well if you only take in account the real users voting. In 100% bot leagues, the selection process could remain as it is right now.

Not sure what this could take in terms of game engine but i think this would be a nice upgrade to get users motivated during the all-star week, which has one less comepetitive game and is a bit of a down week during the season...

Thanks in advance for your attention and keep up the good work. Cheers!

I think that there is a better solution for defining player position. Have a player be eligible in a position that he has played enough minutes in. If you put a 25 minute average needed for a position than a player could only be eligible for 1 position. If a player didn't average 25 minutes in a position, then he could just be listed as his BB position.

That's another valid option...When i suggested assuming the BB-defined positions, i was thinking the easier way to make it happen 'cause i understand that implementing something like this could demand some kind of effort from the game engine..
But your suggestion is great and takes on account what i meant in the first place with this topic which is relating the ASG with the users instead of being some sort of random process...

We all know what would happen... Guys would vote for their players, no matter how good they are, and then vote for the weakest at each position to kill competition... In the end, I'm affraid that the results would not be better than with the current system.

You are right. In fact camarro wrote

Maybe we can state that you will be able to vote only for your conference!

i think a vote could only work, if the initial vote process was done by the system, and the player could order the votes for the top 4 of each position. if they don't do it, the system would choose it like before.

If you vote for the weakest players of your conference, your all star team will lose the game.
Considering that ASG has no impact on merchandising or anything else it's no big deal, right?

The aim is to involve people to follow and partecipate All-Star week. If they want to partecipate by destoying it (voting bad players) that's ok, it's better than now. Right now it's just a waste of time.
