Quick question that I probably already know the answer but really just need it verified.

I acquired a player after the Financial Update this previous Monday. On Tuesday, the first game for the new financial week, he played 17 minutes. This coming week, I'll be charged his salary while his former team will have gained back the extra money after dumping his salary even though they suited him up for a game.

So in theory, I am paying the former team for this player's minutes, correct?

Reason I ask is because I am working on a spreadsheet that breaks down how much this player is costing me per game over a total of 42 games (includes League, Tourney, and Scrimmages). So for this financial week, I have determined that despite signing him on Wednesday night, I am still showing it as having him for the three games rather than just the 1 because I want to accurately portray what I am paying for in terms of salary.

Only reason I am doing this is because I was curious how much am I paying per depth chart and comparing to my team's performance.

Thanks to anyone who can decipher the question I just posed.

If a player is still on your roster after an elapsing financial update, you have to pay him his weekly salary, regardless of the # of games he's played in for that week. That's how I always thought of it. (Regular season that is.)

So ... in short, I'm paying player salaries on Monday for the upcoming games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Thanks, lol.

I think the change made a player you bought stay on your roster at least for four days. So after you buy him, you have to wait for four days to send him on transfer list, making you effectively paying one week's salary. You can fire him, of course, but then you just wasted your money for buying him (unless he played in a game that gained you more money that you spent on him, for example Cup finals).

You can still fire him before paying his salary, but if you want to transfer list, it's 4 days. Adding the 3 days it takes for the sale, you are sure to pay the salary once.

lol, thanks, good advice.

Seriously though, I am trying to do a comparison of how much am I paying to win a game and how much of a player's salary is going towards paying to sit him on the bench vs starting as well as how much between league vs scrimmages. As well as how much goes towards not even playing the guy, such as this scrub that I've kept around for a couple seasons now since drafting him just for the sole purpose of making sure I have a full-enough roster for scrimmages.

My current formula was taking the games the week prior that a player suited up for and then dividing the salary the following Monday. In essence I was reflected paying the players after playing the games.

i.e. Niko Ovaska suits up for the 2 league games of Financial Week 5 but I am using the salary of Week 6. In reality I should have reflected Week 5 salary against the Week 5 games.
