Managing mins is one of the most challenging aspects to BB.
Best for managing mins is actually setting the coach tactic to "let coach decide", selecting the players for the match, and leaving the tactics chart blank. For whatever reason, there's a very high amount of player rotation that keeps starters mins low.
On the other hand, this is also the worst choice for training, as you've no control to which positions your players will play.
Strictly follow depth chart is the most advised (and possible used) choice for ensuring players are in the correct positions for the game and training. If you want to keep mins lower, youll want to ensure each starter player has a separate backup. Playing a slower paced tactic (patient, princeton, 2-3 or 3-2 zone) will cause players to get tired slower and play more mins also.
The other two options I almost never use.
