my SG keeps fouling out... he has an atrocious ID and mediocre OD. Is the problem due to ID or OD?

Depends on the opposition and the context. If he's fouling players who are close to the basket (i.e. layups), it's ID. If he's fouling in jumpshots or during play, then it's OD

Or he could just be a naturally aggressive player that likes fouling

True. But those aggressive players will have a pattern of committing lots of silly fouls. If there is a pattern of conceding lots of fouls in inside/outside shots, then it could be poor inside/outside def. being exposed

I had a great prospect who had a foul problem and believe me, he didn't have a pattern. Only in his stupidity.

Check out his fouls in first 6 games in season 17. I sold him week later.

like a lot of people said before me hes prolly aggressive since his stamina or GS isnt bad n part of it is his Defense..... n i was looking at some of the games n 3/4 games where he fouled a lot he faced a guy with 6k salary so he was prolly decent on offense and one of those games he was facing a sf so ID couldve been the problem then..... i would say maybe average OD would help but aggressiveness may go away wiht experience im guessing but not sure if thats how it works

I had a PF that had the same issue, would Foul out in about 15 to 20mins everytime. I put him up on the Market & no one bought him, after that his Foul problem was no worse than anyone else on my team. Maybe try that, if you don't want to sell him put him up for way more than what he's worth.
I have no evidence that this is an actual answer to this issue, just something I observed.
