I was playing the Los Angeles Dunkers. Dude has a couple of quality guys in the backcourt. I decided to go ahead and get someone on the open market and picked up a center for 500k which is a significant upgrade compared to the talent on hand. I also unloaded a bucket full of useless players on the roster. In his first DV game he went 12-14 and rated out at a 14.5 so it seemed to be money well spent. For the tournament game I bought him in for I wavered between just going straight man, an outside box and one, a 3-2 then decided on a 1-3-1. Played motion on offense, and played on crunch time.

I get home from Thanksgiving activities about 8:15 and pick the game up at the start of the 2nd down eight. It balloons to 17 at half. Up to at least 24, and I think maybe even 26 by the middle of the 3rd. My opponent was playing out of his mind, 8-13 from three as a team in the first half and it was looking like good of a time as any to go see what’s happening on the Drudge Report or something of that ilk. But my subs start to make a little run on his and got it down to 15 by the end of the 3rd. My boys were still down 75-59 with about 7:00 to go. Then they started to make their move and overtook the Dunkers leading 91-88 with seconds to play.

But the Dunkers SG dropped one in to tie it, my guys missed a couple of chances on the other end and we went to OT. Still I controlled matters in OT, leading pretty much all the way and I hit a shot with :04 to take a 100-98 lead. The Dunkers roll down to the other end, desperation three, NO GOOD, but he is fouled on the play.

Bang..bang…bang… Goodnight, thanks for coming out, drive home safely.

My guys played their guts out. Enthusiasm afterwards dropped from 10 to 5, so to say TIE will be the mindset from here on out is an understatement. The rich Italian I bought in, dude had 30pts and 24 boards. The culprit, my PG, SG and SF were a combined 12-54, 3-19 from three, as a team I was 4-29! Then again my opponents went 13-36, his SG though was the difference maker as he was 10-14 from behind the arc and scored 48 overall to overcome my center and my PF. Who did not have a shabby night with 26pts and 14 boards. Even the SF who went 5-25 also had 11 boards to get a double-double.

I knew even before making any additions that I have a team which will mop the floor in my division so at least I can look to moving up to DIV which will be interesting, Though I will need to get another player or two in order to compete. I know I vastly overpaid for my Italian loafer, what is a good price range to look for in D.IV talent??

everything depends on a player. If he is younger, or has higher secondaries, he costs way more than a 32+years old veteran without secondaries, and who is losing his skills every seazon. what i have seen, dominant players in my league goes for around 600k-1m. pg/sg/sf costs more than good centers. Personally i bought 27 year old 24k salary pf with beast secondaries for 700k and i dont regret, because he averages nearly double double double there.

in my opinion perfect center in div IV looks like this: 12 IS 12 ID 12 RB, and like some jumpshot like 7-9, for guards it senough 12-12-12-12 too, with 12 od sg/pg/sf, i allow people to score 38.7% against me. And atm training their offense skills so in few seazons planning to play in a stronger div.
