I've noticed in several games that my players make a bad tactical call at the end of each quarter. Regardless of what the score is, the smart thing to do when getting the ball with only 24 or so seconds on the clock is to run down the whole shot clock, ensuring that your teams "one shot" is the only one made in the quarter.
However, repeatedly my guys seem to race to make a play in the closing stages of the quarter, and thus give the ball back to the opposition. Tonight, not playing a hurry up offense, we got the ball with 25 seconds to play in the second quarter. The coach would be screaming "one shot" at this point, but my guys ran down the court and put up a miss after only six seconds, allowing the opposition 19 seconds to come back down court and sink a 3. So instead of going in 6 or maybe 4 points down, poor tactics left me 9 down at half time.
I think the game engine should be adjusted to slow down the offense in the first three quarters when there is less than 30 seconds on the clock.
