I was wondering if a high Driving value could be a liability for a guard with very low Inside Shot value?

As an example consider a guard with all outside skills around 10, but only 1 for IS.
With his good Driving skill, he might outplay his opponent guard and go to the basket where he will get a poor shot because of his low IS. Whereas if he took a mid range shot with his 10 JS, he might had a better result. Is it possible that a lower Driving skill would be preferable in this case?

If he has a good passing value, would it be reasonable to expect him to drive to the basket and deliver an assist to one of his big guys? In that case, would the guard Passing value be matched against the opponents Inside Defense?

One of my guards has DR 14 and HA 13, but IS 2 (popped to 3 only last week). He manages to hit 50-60% of his layups. I think HA is also important when considering the effect of DR.

That being said, two seasons ago I had a player with DR 13 and IS 7. He always played at SF. It seemed like he scored more layups than my previous guard.

However, when the above mentioned guard drove and found himself in front of a C or PF, he almost never scored.

Thank you all for your inputs,

Well I agree with your points of view. But watching one of my guard taking many short range shots with worse result than long range shots, I wondered why he kept driving to the basket. Especially since Passing is one of his best skill, I was surprised that he didn't deliver more assist in the paint.

In this regard do you think the game engine would compare the guard Passing value with the Inside Defense of the opponents, or would it be a matter of comparing my big guys Inside Shoot with the Opponent ID to see if they can free themselves from their defender?
