I know both age and potential are very important for rookies. But which is more important?

Who do you take in the draft? A 5 ball potential 19 year old, or a 4 ball potential 18 year old.

First player is:
19 years old, MVP or Hall of Famer or All-time great

Second player is:
18 years old, Perennial Alllstar or Superstar

#2. Will be much more useful sooner and later with all those extra 18yr old pops.

Id draft 19 years old, training isnt that much slower as people say, in the final point you only lose 8 % according to coach parrot. Iv been training 19 years old player i drafter, and even if his salary was lower than 18 years old one, he had may more skillpoints, and due to elsatic effect he now is my main trainee, with better skills in each skill to compare with his opponent who started 18 year old:D

Definitely the 18 year old.

It isn't just the fact that training is slower, the main issue is that you already lost the 14 best weeks of his training career. That puts this 19 year old well behind any other 19 yr old in his skill level.

Age is very important , but so are the skills of the player. You didn't say anything about the levels the two individual players had. If the 18 year old had something like 2 balls and the 19 year old had something like 5 balls, I'd go with the 19 year old :)

Lets assume they're both 5 balls. Or at the least, 4 balls.

Then 18 year old , for sure. 1 year of training is a lot. If they both start with nearly the same stats, in 1 year the one who is now 18 year old will be so much better than the one who is now 19 year old.

Don't mean to nitpick, but just to make sure, did you mean "That puts this 19 year old well behind any other 18 yr old in his skill level." ?

You'd rather have a 19 year old out of the draft than an 18 year old with similar skills? And your argument is supply and demand, which makes sense how?

If you're planning to train him, the 18 year old will almost certainly turn out better. If you're planning to sell him, you might get a tiny bit more for the 19 year old if he has a good skill distribution and is Hof or ATG. It depends on if you can catch somebody with an unreasonable love of potential over age.
