I have very often troubles with long messages in BB-mail. Especially if I send message longer than 1000 characters to a non-supporter. They very often use replay and start writing at the end of my message and didn't mention their message is too long and will be shorten. And I have to explain him, why I didn't get their message ...
Is it possible not to allow to write 1001st (for supporters 3001st) character instead of shorten messages? Or not to put text of previous message to answer automatically but just on some button or as new field to BB-mail which could contain fields message and previous message instead of present message?

A good point, but...
I believe that a better one will be to have a pop-up explaining that he cannot send a message longer than "whatever" and he must first shorten his message before sending it.

When he cannot send that message, he will must first fix it and all this trouble will be saved.

Late is better than never.

And in any case, you can do it the same as with the auctions.
When the price is not right (or the message is not, in this case), there is a message at the top of the screen (after sending the request) telling you your fault.
Your message will not be deleted and will allow you to deal with your error.

Summary - Think on what can be done, and on the concept itself and not only on what is bad.
Stop being pasimistic, it is the new year's eve (or new civilian/gregorian year, as we call it here).
