Hi. I'm new here, and I've played about six games, winning one, getting crushed several times, and coming in close a couple other times. First thing I did was cut down my team to keep my best players along with the young dudes with the highest potential. Then, I went out on the wire and picked up three guys who are all about twice as good as my existing best player, so they are my stars (salaries in the 10K range). Since then, I've been testing different tactics, training various positions, and waiving/selling a couple of my less useful guys. I picked up a level 4 trainer in my first week.

I was careful with my cash since I wasn't sure what my revenue was going to look like, and now it looks like I've got a nice $50K weekly surplus (not including my new manager bonus) and $300K in the bank.

Would you... (realizing that I'm developing several players with high potential at the same time):
1 - Pick up a young superstar off waivers for the full $300K with a salary in the $30K salary range?
2 - get a couple older players (won't be as expensive) in the $15-$20K salary range?
3 - Invest in training, PR, and the doctor?
4 - Other...

When I play other teams in the top of my league, I can see the salaries of their players, and I'm clearly not competitive, but it's fun to set up different tactics and see how some of my players still have good games. I'd like to increase my competitiveness, but I also don't want to run out of money (since I assume that matters).

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would hold onto the money till the end of the season. Getting some good trainees set up should be a main aim. Hopefully u get some good players in the draft and there will be plenty of draftees available for u to buy.

Thanks. I didn't think of that. That would be brutal if I spent all my cash on veterans in the last week of the season and then couldn't sign my first round draft pick.

So, it sounds like my $50K weekly surplus may be a thing of the past when I demote down to D5. That is good to know.
Yeah, those lower tier seats are always full. I'll look into how much it would cost to expand that section of my stadium.
Thanks!

You misunderstood. It doesn't cost anything to get your own draft picks they sign on for free. I meant u could use the money to buy youngsters off the transfer market as there is a flood of them on the market after the draft.

Wow. So the resounding feedback I'm getting is that trying to land a superstar (or two stars) off the waiver wire at this point for me probably isn't my best move. It would be good to keep some cash on hand for the start of my new season in my potentially new league (demotion), and also good to increase the number of seats in my coliseum.
Thanks everyone!

I'd say in a week to 10 days from now, you'll begin to see some better players on the wire going for cheaper prices. Right now the prices are high for the star players. Once they are no longer eligible for the playoffs, I expect their prices will go down. Also, when the season is over and teams begin to look at next season, you will see a lot more players on the fa wire go for prices that you'll be better able to afford.
