Each team has a single Rivalry at their league.
But, apparently a single team may have two teams that have them as their rival-team.
As one will play harder against their rivalry, this is not really fair, and suspected to be a bug. A major one.

An example:
The following team - http://www.buzzerbeater.com/team/38248/overview.aspx is the rival-team of (at least) the following two teams:
1) http://www.buzzerbeater.com/team/38078/overview.aspx
2) http://www.buzzerbeater.com/team/92057/overview.aspx

??? How come?
How can it be that for one team they'll have (at least) two teams that will do more against them, and some will have none.

1) For me, it is kind of funny that (in this game) one team is a rival of another, but not the other way around.
Your examples proves that it isn't so in the real world.

2) A team can have few teams as their rival, and not just a single team like it is in the game.
This means that it was meant to be - one rival per team, both ways...

3) In the "real game", a better team has more rivals than those who aren't.
A team that is longer in a league, will "acquire" more rivals during the years.
This 3rd point is more of a suggestion...

This is not a bug, this is a well-known feature that works correctly. In the past there could be an unlimited number (or a larger number than two, anyway) of rivals for one team. It was limited to two to make it more fair but to also allow a little bit extra excitement to this feature.

In summary, not a bug and therefore the thread is closed. If you feel you must, please suggest a change in the suggestions forum (I propose the minor suggestion thread).
