Not complaining, just curious.......

In my league's MVP voting.........

Player A.....30 PPG.....4.6 BPG.....15 RPG..... 1 SPG......625 FT%..... .623 FG%
Player B.....23 PPG.....1.3 BPG..... 15 RPG..... 2 SPG..... .727 FT%..... 628 FG%

Player A was clearly the better player in our league. He led the league in points per game and total points....... and he led all of BB with 4.6 blocks per game. Yet he got zero votes in the MVP.

Meanwhile, Player B, which you can see is behind player A in nearly ever category, especially the important categories, got all but 1 of the first place votes and won the MVP.

Anyone have any reason why?

Your team was better than his. It's the Most Valuable Player Award, not Best Player Award. It rewards players on winning teams.

Maybe because your team finished 1st and his team 2nd?. Plus you're in the finals?

I was under the impression that MVP was voted on for regular season only, and did not take into account anything that happened in the playoffs.

As for my team being 1 and him 2, that could be it. But still, his player got zero votes. I had a 19 year old trainee that got two votes, and he didn't even average 10 points per game.

Player Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Points
Rodrigo Sevilla Tmuston Beltics 32 0 0 0 0 192

That's how my play did. His season stats were:

min fg % 3pt % ft % OR TR AST TO STL BLK PF PTS RAT
33.2 0.677 0.455 0.719 3.2 11.1 3.7 1.4 2.0 1.8 0.7 20.5 11.0

He didn't make it to any league leaders top except he was 6th highest scorer. Maybe it's because I've way higher average attendance than others? Idk :D

I see what you're talking about.

However, let me point out, he was in our league through the playoffs. He played first and second round of playoffs for that team before that GM retired and the player was put on the TL.

That could very well be why. Makes sense.

Thanks for pointing that out.

playoff performance means nothing

being sold means nothing

padding stats on a bad team doesnt impress the voters

being the best player on the best team is the way to win

naturally it happens especially on really good teams where the best players are pinchig votes from each other

obviously a mvp needs to be a standout on his team, if he is the best on the best but 1% better than someone else he isny winning in most leagues

but in this case, if he was still in the leaguehhe would most likely won, also there are different kind of voters some prioritize performances and other team succes. I believe BB Charles produced once a good example with his Grubb, who spöitted the voters with an player of an succesful team.
